Rosy Senanayake To Be Appointed As First Female Mayor Of Colombo

Former state minister Rosy Senanayake has been
elected as the first female mayor of Sri Lanka's biggest Municipal Council the Colombo Municipal Council as the governing United National Party(UNP) which she represented  had won the Municipal Council with 131,353 votes .

After the result was announced the new Colombo Mayor to be appointed has stated that she will work for the betterment of people and make the Colombo Municipal Council the best council among other Municipal Councils.All together UNP had secured 60 seats of the council .

The Sri Lanka Peoples Front had received 23 seats ,United Peoples Freedom Alliance received 12 seats  ,United Progressive Alliance secured 10 seats and Peoples Liberation Front received 06 seats in the Colombo Municipal Council.




Sri Lanka Peoples Front Leads The Election Results Released Upto Now

According to the  results of local government issued so
far majority of urban councils and Pradeshiya Sabhas around 108 had won by Sri Lanka Peoples Front led by Former president Mahinda Rajapakshe and the party secured 1159 members in Councils .

The ruling United National Party is currently placed second with 758 council members and United Peoples Freedom Alliance is third with 232 council members.

The election was held to elect members for 342 councils.

Meanwhile former president Mahinda Rajapakshe whose party leads the election results at present had appealed all members who had won to celebrate it peacefully while Police urged that anyone who is violating the  laws of the country will be punished severely.

Colombo Municipal Council Was Won By Governing UNP

A much awaited election result of The biggest
Municipal Council in Sri Lanka Colombo Municipal Council has been issued shortwhile ago and the Municipal Council had won by the ruling United National Party with 131,353 votes and secured 60 seats in the Council.

The Sri Lanka Peoples front under the symbol flower bud led by former president Mahinda Rajapakshe managed to receieved 60,0087 votes with 23 seats in the Council and United Peoples Freedom Alliance secured 31,421 votes with 02 seats.

Already the results of number of urban councils and pradeshiya sabhas in Colombo district have been issued and the kotte and Kaduwela Urban Councils won by Sri Lanka Peoples Front while United National Party won the Kolonnawa Urban Council.

Local Government Elections-Only Two Election Results Have Announced Officially

Although the Chairman of Elections Commission
Mahinda Deshapriya has announced that the 75% of divisional Local government election results  will be released by 9 p.m the Elections Commission still managed to release only two elections results including Manthei east Pradeshiya Saba (council )in Mulathivu District and Ambalangoda Urban council in Galle District.

The Manthei council was won by Tamil National Alliance and Ambalangoda Urban Council was won by Sri Lanka Peoples Front led by former president Mahinda Rajapakshe .

The causes for the  delay of issuing other election results are due to not receiving postal votes as expected and  influence of lost candidates who had requested the election officials to re count the results of their polling divisions it has been revealed.

Unofficial results published by social media pages owned by some recognized electronic media institutions had revealed that the Sri Lanka Peoples Front under the  symbol flower bud lead many of the institutional  results.
