A Candidate Contesting For The Local Government Elections Was Arrested While Distributing Leaflets With Party Symbol
A candidate who is contesting for the Local
government elections scheduled to be held today (10) was arrested yesterday (09)by the Chilaw Police while illegally distributing a stock of leaflets printed with his party symbol and vote among the public at punchivilakkuwa in Chilaw .
Twenty two leaflets and two calenders printed with party symbol of the candidate were also taken in to custody in possession of him by the Police.
The suspect is due to be produced before the Chilaw Magistrate Court.
The election publicity activities had concluded on wednesday (07)and involving in an activities related to election publicity after that date banned by the Elections Department.

A Vehicle Assistant Was Injured Due To A ContaIner Truck Accident
A vehicle assistant of a Container Truck transporting
Tea from Thalawakale to Welisara was injured and hospitalized after the Truck he was travelling in veering off the road and toppled over near Devon waterfalls in dimbula at Hatton-Nuwara Eliya main road this morning (09).
The injured was admitted to the Beruwala Provincial Hospital for treatment.
Tea boxes contains around 12,000 kilo grammes of Tea which scheduled to export to another country was transporting at the time of the accident.

A Person Was Arrested In Puttalam With 143 Fake Ballot Papers
Puttalam Police have arrested a person engaged in
distributing a stock of 143 fake ballot papers printed similarly to the official ballot papers of the local government elections among the public at thiladiya area in Puttalam today (09).
The names and symbols of the all parties contested for the local government elections tomorrow (10)have been printed in the stock of fake ballot papers taken in to custody in possession of the suspect and the vote had marked for one party in all ballot papers according to the Police.
The suspect is due to be produced before Puttalam Magistrate court tomorrow (10).

A Female Candidate Contesting For The Local Government Elections From SLFP Disappeared
A 38 year old female candidate who is contesting for
the Wennappuwa pradeshiya sabha from Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP)in tomorrow's local government election had disappeared mysteriously since 08th of January after 2 p.m while receiving treatment for an illness in Marawila Hospital according to a complaint made by her husband to the Wennappuwa Police.
The husband of the missing female SLFP Candidate who is also contesting for the local government elections in tomorrow's poll for the Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha as an Independant Candidate ,has stated in his complaint made to the Police that his wife was admitted to the Marawila Hospital on 05th of January for an illness and on 08th of January she had disappeared mysteriously.
