The 70th National Independence Day Celebrations due to be held tomorrow (04)at the Galle Face Green in Colombo under the patronage of Prince Edward the Earl Of Wessex and Countess of Wessex and the participation of President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe and local and foreign diginitaries.

Education Ministry Has Ordered To Remove Laptops And Telescopes From The Controversial Dance Item Prepared For Independence Day Celebrations

The secretary of the Education Ministry Sunil
Hettiarachchi has ordered the group of trainee teachers attached to the Wayamba Vidya Peetaya (Faculty )who prepared a dance item to be performed during  the 70th Independence Day celebrations at Galle Face Green in Colombo tomorrow(04)by using Laptop Computers and Telescopes to remove those equipment from the dance item due to the crticisms made against it by various sections of the society.

Some local web sites described the controversial dance item as Laptop Wannama and stated that it will not suited for trainee teachers to perform this kind if Dance item with Laptops and Telescopes as several outstation schools are currently  running without these equipment.

Now after removing Laptops and Telescopes from the Dsnce item it will be performed at the Independence Day celebrations in different way the Education Ministry has stated.

An Indian National Was Arrested With A Stock Of Gold Plates

The Police Anti Narcotic Bureau officials have today
(03)arrested an Indian National who had arrived at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport from Dubai with a stock of Gold plates weighing around one Kilo grammes in his possession.

The estimated value of the stock of Gold Plates taken into custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.6 million it has been revealed.
