Sri Lanka Medical Council To Meet Today After Electing New Members
The Sri Lanka Medical Council is due to convene it's
first meeting after the electing of four new members today (26) at the Medical Council building in Colombo-10.
The election was held to appoint four members to the council on 23rd and 24th of January and brawling among several candidates contested for the election had been reported during the voting.

Interim Order Issued Against Investigating Against Former Defense Secretary Was Extended
The Interim Court order issued to the Police financial
Crimes Investigations Unit by preventing investigating against the former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe over the allegations made against him on misusing of more than Rs.30 million belonging to the government to construct the D.A Rajapakshe monument in Weeraketiya ,Madamulana and taking court action against him had been extended by the Court of Appeal yesterday (25) until 15th of February .
The interim order was issued after hearing the petition filed at Court of Appeal by the Former Defense Secretary.

Two Former Officers Attached To The Previous Regime Arrested Over Purchasing Of Eight Luxary Vehicles
The Special Police Investigations Unit had yesterday
(25)arrested the former Chief Accountant attached to the Presidential Secretariat A.L.D Gunaratne and former Additional Presidential Secretary A.S.Gunaratne over purchasing of luxary vehicles unnecassaraily during the regime of former President Mahinda Rajapakshe.
The two former officers were charged over purchasing eight Luxary Vehucles through the Presidential Secretariat during previous regime and incur heavy financial loss to the government.

Attorney General Had Filed First Two Cases Under The Recommendations Of Serious Fraud And Corruption Commission In High Court
Attorney General has yesterday (25)filed first two
cases in Colombo High Court against the former Minister Of Fisheries Sarath Kumar Gunaratne and few others under the recommendations made by Special Presidential Commission Of Inquiry Inquire In to Serious Fraud And Corruption.over misusing of a large sum of money allocated for development work.
Accordingly these two cases were filed over misusing of more than Rs.10 million allocated to the development work of Negambo lagoon to held final presidential ekection rally of Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe at Negambo Urban Council stadium and misuse of money allocated to State Fiseries corporation to print Calenders during last Presidential Election.
These fraud activities were revealed by the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry and after the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) investigating over the incidents based on recommendations of the Commission ,Attorney General had fiiled these two cases .
The final report of the Commission was handed over to the President recently.
