Two Youth Were Killed In Thaipongal Eve Due To A Motor Car Accident
Two youth were killed and another two were injured
and hospitalized after the high speed Motor Car they were travelling in toppled over the road and colliding with a lamp post in Kurumankadu at Vavuniya last
night (13).
One youth was killed on the spot and other youth had succumbed to his injuries after admission to Vavuniya General Hospital in critical condition.
The gup of youth had faced the incident while returning from a Thaipongal function it has been revealed.
The deceased were residents of Vavuniya and of the ages 20 and 21 years old.

A Dead Body Of A Wild Elephant Was Recovered In A Home Garden At Puttalam
A dead body of a Wild Elephant believed to have been
electrocuted had beeen recovered in a home garden at Kaladiya in Puttalam today (14)by the neighbours in the area.
Police have arrived at the scene after being informed by the neighbhours over the dead body of the Wild Elephant .
However the owner of the home garden had stated that although he had laid electric wires around the garden to protect the properties from Wild Elephants, now those wires were disconnected.
A post mortum of the Wild Elephant is scheduled to be conducted to find out the cause of the death.

Two Persons Arrested With A Large Stock Of Narcotics At The Airport
Airport Police have today (14) arrested two Sri Lankan
nationals arrived in from India with a stock of Apple Narcotic tablets,"Mava"narcotic and Abortion tablets brought illegally to the country.
Police have taken in to custody 4000 tablets of Apple narcotic tablets,50 packs contains "Mava"narcotic ,1260 Abortion tablets and 90 small jars contains Vitamin D in possession of the suspects.
The estimated worth of the stock of Narcotics taken in to custody in possession of the suspects is around Rs.2.5 million it has been revealed.
The suspects are of the ages 62 and 27 and residents of Wattala , handala area.
They are due to produce before Minuwangoda Magistrate Court.

President Has Ordered The Authorities To Cancel Two Gazette Notifications On Liquor
President Maithripala Sirisena has today (14)ordered
the authorities to cancel the new gazette notifications issued under the signature of Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera to remove the ban imposed on females to purchase liqupr from bars,working in bars and selling liquor and extending the time schedule of opening bars from 9 p.m to 10 p.m by tomotrow (15).
President has stated that he was not aware on the new gazette nitifications which are contradictory to the government policy of "Stop Liquor" while addressing a public rally in Agalawatte area today.
The Gazette notifications issued by Ministry of Finance will be cancelled by tomorrow according to him.
