President Had Inaugurated The Moragahakande Dam Project

The largest multi sectoral Development project

constructed by the Mahaweli Authority the Moragahakande Dam Project was inaugurated by President Maithripala Sirisena today (08).

After unveiling the plaque President Sirisena had pressed an electronic switch to open sluice gates of the Moragahakande Dam Project.

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe along with seveeal Gogernment Ministers and dignitaries have graced the occassion.

Two Persons Were Arrested With 16,500 Kilo Grammes Of Waste Tea

The Special Police Task Force Personal had arrested

two persons and taken in to custody 16,500 Kilo Grammes Of Waste Tea and around 400 liters of Chemicals use to make taste and color of the Waste Tea in a Store at Kiththampahuwa in Colombo during a raid it has been revealed.

The Intelligence Officers have revealed an  information that the arrested suspects have involved in exporting Waste Tea packed at the store to foreign countries according to suspects.

A 35 Year Old Double Murder Suspect Was Shot And Killed In Pannala

A 35 year old suspect of a double murder case  who is

in bail was shot and killed by two unidentified gunmen arrived in a Motorcycle at Pallama in Pannala area this evening (08).

The critically injured person who  was shot  while travelling in a Motor Car had succumbed to his injuries after admission to Sandalankawa Hospital.

The deceased was arrested and remanded over the killing of two persons as a result of his anger it has been revealed.However he was released on bail two months ago.

Pannala Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

A Youth Was Sentenced A Life Time Imprisonment Over Keeping And Smuggling Heroin

A youth has been sentenced a life time imprisonment

over keeping 13.96 grammes of Heroin  in possession and smuggling Heroin , today (08)by the Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulathunge.

The 23 year old accused who is a resident of Pettah in Colombo was arrested over keeping and smuggling of the haul of Heroin at Pettah area in 2013.

Police Have Arrested Three Persons Including A Kapuwa Over Distilling Illicit Liquor In A Devalaya

Police have arrested three persons including the head

of a Devalaya(A place of worship) "Kapuwa " in Hingurakgoda area while distilling illicit liquor (Kasippu) in Devalaya .

During the raid Hingurakgoda Police have taken in to custody 52,500 mili liters of Illicit Liquor spirit and several equipment use to distil Kasippu from the Devalaya it has been revealed.

The two persons arrested with Kapuwa are his assistants of the Devalaya and the Kapuwa was arrested over distilling Kasippu in a previous occassion as well the Police have stated.
