Twenty Seven Indian Nationals Arrested While Staying In Sri Lanka Illegally

The Immigration and  Emigrartion Department
officials have today (06)arrested 27 Indian Nationals who are staying in Sri Lanka illegally with expired visas in Vavuniya District.

The officials had taken into custody the expired visas of the Indian Nationals and they are due to deport to India on Monday (08).

A Sri Lankan Arrested With US Currency Notes And Cigarette Packs Illegally Brought To Sri Lanka

Airport customs officers had yesterday (05)arrested a
41 year old Sri Lankan who had attempted to smuggle US Dollers 25,000 and 120 Cigarette Packs illegally to Sri Lanka at Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Airport .

The US Doller currency notes were hidden in a small belt belonging to suspect  and the Cigarette packs were hidden in his luggage according to Customs Officers.

The estimated value of the US Dollers currency notes and Cigarette packs taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.4 million it has been revealed.

The suspect who is a resident of Chavakachcheriya area was arrested after he was arriving from Chennai,India by a Sri Lankan Airlines flight.



Special Police Task Force Personal And Navy Recovered Two Hidden Stocks Of Kerala Cannabis

The Special Police Task Force Personal in Jaffna had
this aftern8on (06) recovered 17.760 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis hidden near the Thondamanaru Bridge in Velvatithurai area (Northern Province) as per an information received by them.

The stock of Kerala Cannabis recovered is due to be handed over to the Velvitithurai Police for a legal action.

Sri Lanka Navy too had today (06)recovered a large stock of narcotics including 90 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis hidden in the sea coast of Velvatithurai.
