Eleven Persons Were Injured Due To A Road Accident In Southern Expressway

Eleven persons have been injured and hospitalized
after the Van they were travelling in veering off the road and colliding with a security fence of the Southern Expressway near the 95.5 Kilo Meter post at Imaduwa this noon (06).

The injured were admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment and the condition of two of them is critical it has been revealed.

The Van travelling from Galle to Matara veering off the road as a result of the driver's inability to control the speed of the vehicle according to reports.

Akmeemana Police along with the Southern Expressway Police are jointly conducting an investigation on the incident.

Two Persons Were Arrested With A Haul Of Heroin

The Police narcotic bureau officers have arrested two
persons while transporting 1.530 Kilo grammes of Heroin by a Motorcycle at wassawulla in Kuliyapitiya area.

The haul of Heroin was stored in a travelling bag according to the Police

The two suspects who are residents of Wassawulla area have been remanded until 11th of January after being produced them before the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate Court.

A Person Was Killed After Colliding With A Train

A 30 year old person was killed after colliding with a
train travelling from Badulla to Colombo at mahawattetama in Hali-Ela area.

The deceased had been identified as a resident of mahawattegama area.

Hali-Ela Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Central Bank Monetary Board Has Extended The Ban Imposed On Perpetual Treasuries To Functioning As A Primary Dealer

The Central Bank Monetary Board has decided to
extend the ban imposed on Perpetual Treasuries Limited by preventing functioning  as a primary dealer  of the Bank for further six months with effect from today (05).

The suspension has been extended to continue the investigations carried out by the Central Bank on the Central Bank bond scam it has been stated.

The decision was made as per the terms of regulations made under the Registered Stock and Securities Ordinance and the Local Treasury Bills Ordinance.

The owner of the Perpetual Treasuries Limited Arjun Aloysius who is also the son of former Central Bank governor Arjun Mahendran has been named as the main accused of the Bond scam
