Airport Customs Officers Arrested A Chinese National Attempting To Smuggle A Gold Chunk Out Of The Country

Airport Customs Officers have arrested a 30 year old
Chinese National while illegally attempting to smuggle a chunk of Gold weighing around one Kilo Gramme to Hong Kong at Katunayake International Airport this morning (01).

Airport Customs officers had recovered the chunk of Gold hidden inside  a small travelling bag carried by the suspect which contains tooth brushes,toothpastes and razors it has been revealed.

The 25 carrot chunk of Gold is worth around Rs.6.58 million according to reports.

Customs Officers are currently questioning the Chinese National regarding the incident with the help of an interpreter.


Fire Erupted In Meethotamulle Garbage Mount Was Doused

The fire erupted in a section of the Meethotamulle
Garbage mount this morning (01)was doused by the Colombo fire brigade by evening it has been reported.

Army and Police officers were assisted the fire brigade to douse the fire and brought the situation under control.

No casualties have been reported due to the fire which erupted around 11 a.m this morning.

A Person Was Arrested While Attempting To Smuggle A Stock Of Wallapatta Out Of The Country

Airport Customs officers have yesterday (31)arrested a
31 year old Sri Lankan who had attempted to illegally smuggle 24.700 Kilo Grammes of an expensive "Wallapatta" known as "Gyrinops Walla" to Muscut City in Oman ,at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport.

The estimated value of the stock of Wallapatta taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.21,40,000 it has been revealed.

The suspect who is a resident of Colombo was arrested while attempting to board a flight to Oman by carrying the stock of Wallapatta in his luggage.

A Sudden Fire Broke Out In Meethotamulle Garbage Mount

A sudden fire had broken out in a part of the
Meethotamulle Garbage Mount around 11 a.m this morning(01)near the Kolonnawa Rahula Collage where the part of a mount collapsed on 14th of April last year .

Four water bousars and three fire trucks are currently involved in dousing the fire it has been reported.No casualties have been reported.

Navy Have Arrested 13 Indian Fishermen While Illegally Fishing In Sri Lankan Waters

Sri Lanka Navy have arrested 13 Indian Fishermen

along with the two trawler boats they have arrived in yesterday (31) while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan waters in Jaffna-Kachchathivu sea coast.

After observing the illegal fishing activities of Indian Fishermen the Navy officers have arrested the group of fishermen and taken into custody the stock of fish captured by them.

The suspected fishermen along with the stock of fish they have captured were handed over to the deputy officer  Fisheries in Jaffna for further investigations.
