An Entry Road To Galle Face Was Closed Down Due To A Protest March

The entry road to Galle Face had been closed down
temporarily this noon (18)due to a protest march held by the members of the Government Medical Faculty Parents Association.

A heavy traffic had been prevailed due to this situation it has been reported.

The  Protest march was held from Colombo Fort railway station to Prime Minister's official residence Temple Trees by demanding justice to the SAITM medical students.

The protestors had handed over a memorandum to a representative of Prime Minister Ranil wikramasinghe on their demand.



A Youth Motorcyclist Was Critically Injured Due To An Accident

A youth Motorcyclist was critically injured and
hospitalized after the high speed Motorcycle he was riding colliding with a Railway track at a Railway crossing in Vavuniya last evening (17).

The injured youth had been admitted to the Vavuniya Hospital for treatment and due to the accident his Motorcycle was broken in to few pieces it has been reported.

The accident occurred as a result of the high speed and inability of the Motorcyclist to control the speed  of the Motorcycle .

An O/Level Student Had Been Caught While Answering The Question Paper With The Help Of A Mobile

A student who sat for the GCE Ordinary Level
examination had been caught by the in charge of the Examination Hall while answering a question paper with a help of mobile phone in his possession today (18) at an examination center in Anuradhapura.

The suspected Student has answered the Mathamatics -01 question paper with the help of a mobile phone it has been revealed.

Police have launched an investigation over the incident.


  

A Bus Driver And A Passanger Received An Injuries Due To A Road Accident

A Bus driver and a Passanger have received minor
injuries due to the Sri Lanka Transport Board(SLTB) Bus they were travelling in collided with a wall near the Jaffna Cachcheri last evening (17).

Due to the accident the Bus travelling from Vavuniya to Jaffna had been severely damaged according to the reports.

Other Passangers in the Bus escape unharmed and they wete transported to their destinations with the help of other vehicles.

The accident has occurred due to the inability of the driver to control the speed of the Bus when attempting  to allow another vehicle to overtake Jaffna Police have stated.

Ministry Of Plantations Has Sought An Explanation From The Company Exported Insect Contaminated Tea To Russia

Ministry Of Plantations has sought an explanation
from the Sri Lankan Company which exported the stock of Tea to Russia that lead to a Tea Ban imposed on Sri Lanka .

Ministry has sought an explanation from the Company on the procedure adapted during the transportation of the stock of Tea to Russia later found as contaminated with a variety of insects. If the Company found as guilty over the incident the export licence of it will be cancelled according to the President Maithripala Sirisen 

An insect variety "Copra" which is common in Cereal s Transport containers was detected in the stock of Tea exported to Russia recently.Due to this Russia has imposed a ban on  Tea and several other Plantation products imported from Sri Lanka with effect from today (18) it has been revealed.

Russia is the largest Sri Lankan Tea buyer which 25% of the  total amount of Sri Lankan Tea exports exported to Russia.
