The Insect Variety Detected In The Stock Of Sri Lankan Tea To Russia,May Have Entered From Another Port-Minister Dissanayake

The variety of Insect detected in a stock of Sri Lankan
Tea exported to Russia has been identified as "Capra"normally found in Cereals and it may have entered the Tea stock in another Port while transporting it to Russia according to the Minister of Plantations Navin Dissanayake.

Due to the Insect variety detected in the Sri Lankan Tea stock ,Russia had temporarily banned importing Tea and several other Plantation products from Sri Lanka.

Earlier the Ministry of Plantations has been announced that the Container which the Sri Lankan stock of Tea transported to Russia not belonged to Sri Lanka as it used to transport Cereals .

Addressing a Media conference in Nuwara Eliya Minister Dissanayake has said it was amazing what had happened to Sri Lankan stock of Tea exported to Russia and assured the businessmen in Tea Industry and small Tea Estate owners the ban imposed on Sri Lankan Tea by Russia will be removed shortly.

The talks with Russian authorities over the issue had already begun he has stressed.Minister Dissanayake is due to leave Russia for the talks soon his Ministry has stated.

Plantation Minister To Leave Russia To Discuss On Russian Ban Of Sri Lankan Tea And Other Crop Products

Plantations Minister Navin Dissanayake is due to leave
for Russia shortly to discuss with Russian authorities over the ban they have imposed on Sri Lankan Tea and several other plantation products  after detecting   a variety of insects in a Tea shipment exported to Russia according to the Ministry Of Plantations.

Minister Dissanayake is due to hold discussions with Russian authorities over the ban and try to sort out things the Ministry has stated.

Due to the detection  of a variety of Insects in the Tea shipment and used a container  which previously used to transport cereals to store the Tea ,Russian Author ities have temporarily banned importing of Tea and several other plantation products  from Sri Lanka.

However according to the Ministry Of Plantations the container which had been reported as storing the exported stock of Tea to Russia does not belonged to Sri Lanka.
