Around 47 Persons Were Arrested Regarding Recent Assaults In Jaffna

Around 47 persons have been arrested by the Police in
Jaffna during last two days over the recent assults taken place using sharp objects it has been reported.

To arrest other suspects of the assaults Police have deployed three investigating teams in Kopai,Chunnakkam and Manipai areas in Jaffna .

Two Females Were Killed And four Injured Due To A Road Accident

Two females were killed and four others injured and
hospitalized after the Cab vehicle they were travelling in veering off the road and colliding with a wall in Hingalgoda area on Udugama-Thavalama road early this morning (19).

The six injured persons including the driver of the Cab and two females who were critically injured due to the accident had been admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital and the two females had succumbed to their injuries after admission to the Hospital.

All the injured persons are workers of a Tea factory in Hingalgoda and the accident had occurred after the driver of the Cab unable to control the vehicle it has been revealed.


No Truth On Rumours Spreading In On Petrol Shortage

There's no truth on the rumours spreading în that
there is a petrol shortage in the country according to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (Ceypetco).

Due to the rumours on Petrol Shortage a long queues had been seen in front of Oil filling stations in Colombo and the suburbs this evening.

According to the CPC the Corporation have enough stocks of petrol in stores and another Oil carrier carrying Petrol is due to arrive in Colombo during next two days,

Navy Arrested Eight Indian Fishermen In Sri Lankan Waters

Sri Lanka Navy have arested eight Indian Fishermen
while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan  sea areas of West of Delft Island and North East of Kachchathivu Island along with the two trawler boats they were in .

The arrested Indian Fishermen and the Boats were handed over to the Assistant Fisheries Director in Jaffna by the Navy for future course of action.

Sudden Fire Erupted In Meethotamulle Garbage Dump Due To The Rising Of Methane Gas In Air

The cause of the sudden fire erupted in the top of the
Meethotamulle Garbage dump few days ago has been proved as  due to a rising levels  of toxic Methane gas in the air around the dump according to the investigations carried out in this regard the Ministry Of Megapolis and Western Development has announced.

The Central Engineering Bureau is monitoring the Garbage Dump daily and levelling of the Dump due to begin within next month with the aid of World Bank the Ministry has stated.
