A Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To A Road Accident

A 60 year old motorcyclist was killed after the
motorcycle he was driving colliding with a private bus at koralaima area on Horana-Colombo main  road today (24).

The critically injured motorcyclist who was a resident of poruwadanda area had succumbed to his injuries after admission to vathara hospital.

Kahathuduwa police had arrested the Bus driver regarding the accident.

Trains In Northern RailWay Track Had Delayed Due To A Derailment Of A Train

Trains in Northern Railway track had been delayed
this evening (24)due to a derailment of a special train running from Anuradhapura to Colombo at senerathgame area in Anuradhapura .

The train  returned to normalcy in the evening it has been aounced.


One Person Was Killed Due To A Road Accident

A person was killed and  two persons have been
injured and hospitalized after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in veering off the road and colliding with a tree at Aluththarama area on Mahiyanganaya-Dehiattakandiya road today (24).

The injured have been admitted to the Mahiyanganaya Hospital for treatment.

The deceased had been identified as a 33 year old resident of Mahiyanganaya area.The accident occurred as the Three Wheeler driver not being able to control the speed of the vehicle.

A 21 Year Old Youth Had Drowned While Bathing Near Daduru Oya Bridge

A 21 year old youth had drowned this evening
(24)while bathing in near Daduru Oya (River ) bridge on Chilaw-Puttalam main road.

Friends who were with him had saved the youth but he was already dead at that time according to reports.

The deceased who was a resident of Chilaw area had consumed liquor with a group of his friends before drowning it has been revealed.


Two Suspects Arrested While Transporting 2000 Kilo Grammes Of Waste Tea

Dimbula Police had arrested two persons with around
2000 kilo grammes of waste tea in their possession while transporting them from Maskeliya to a trade stall in Kotagala area.

The suspects did not not have a valid license in their
possession to transport waste tea according to the Police.

The two suspects along with the stock of waste tea are due to be produced before Hatton Magistrate court tomorrow (25).


An Indian National Arrested While Attempting To Smuggle A Stock Of Foreign Currency Notes At Katunayake Airport

Airport security  officers had arrested an Indian
national while attempting to smuggle a stock of foreign currency notes worth nearly Rs.10 million illegally to India  at Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Airport today (24).

The Indian national who arrived in the Airport this morning to depart New Delhi,India had concealed US Dollars 62,500 secretly inside his luggage it has been revealed.

The suspect was handed over to the Airport Customs for further investigations and the Customs Officers had begun an investigation on the incident .
