All Attorneys Have Withdrawn From Judicial Activities In North Today(24)

Judicial activities in Northern Province have been disrupted today(24)as the the all Attorneys in the Province withdrawn from work against the killing of a Policemen while providing security for a Jaffba High Court Judge Manikkawasagar Illanveliyan in Nallur on Saturday(22) by few gunmen.

Accordingly Attorneys attached to the Courts in Chavakachcheri, Kayts, Mannar, ,Vavuniya, Kilinochchi and Mulathivu have withdrawn from work today.

The Attorneys in Northern Province have requested the authorities to arrest the culprits responsible for the killing of a policemen and injuring another and to ensure the security of the Judges.

President Maithripala Sirisena had yesterday (23) ordered the authorities to ensure the security of Judges following the incident in Nallur.

Around 22 Passangers Have Been Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Road Accident

Around 22 passengers have been injured and hospitalized after a Private Bus veering off the road on Mahiyanganaya-Kandy road this morning(24) it has been reported.

The injured two of them seriously were admitted to the Mahiyanganya Hospital for treatment.

The passengers  were on the way to Dehiaththakandiya after attending a religious event in Colombo when they met with the accident.

Accident was occurred due to a fault of the breaks in the Bus according to the Police.

A French National Was Arrested With Four Valuable Gem Stones At Airport

A french national was arrested by the Airport Customs

officers yesterday (23)with four valuable gem stones hidden in his shoe and a trouser pocket and a stock of illegal cigarettes and liquor bottles at Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport.

Customs have taken into custody  61 cigarettes and 09 foreign liquor bottles illegally brought to the country in possession of the french national.

The value of the gem stones including a blue gem the suspect carried is around Rs.11.5 million and the cigarettes and liquor bottles around Rs.200,000 according to the customs.
