A Person Was Shot And Injured In Hambanthota

A person was injured and hospitalized after two
unidentified gunmen  arrived in a motorcycle shot at him at Hambanthota yesterday (19).

The injured is a 41 year old resident of Suriyawewa area.

Hambanthota Police have a launched a search operation to arrest the  gunmen.

Two Persons Were Killed And One Was Injured And Hospitalized After Colliding With A Train

Two persons were killed and one was injured and
hospitalized after colliding with a train travelling from Colombo Fort to Kalutara at Wadduwa,Thalpitiya area last Tuesday (18)night while walking along the railway track it has been reported.

The three critically injured persons were admitted to the Panadura Hospital and two of them had succumbed to their injuries on admission to the hospital.

The deceased had been identified as the residents of Ambalangoda and Panadura areas,

Imprisoned Former Navy Media Spokesman Had Been Further Remanded Until 02nd Of August

The former Media Spokesman of the Sri Lanka Navy
Commadore D.K.P Dassanayake who was arrested and remanded over abduction ,detention and disappearance of 11 youths during 2008-2009 period ,had been further remanded until 02nd of August by the Colombo Fort magistrate yesterday (19).

Commadore Dassanayake was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)on 12th of July.

When the case against Commadore Dassanayake was taken up for hearing yesterday.his attorneys had requested the Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne not to allow media to cover the hearing by stating that media are distorting facts revealed in the case.

However as the attorneys were not able to provide enough evidence to prove the accusations against the media  ,Fort Magistrate has turned down the request made by them.

The case is due to be taken up for hearing on 2nd of August.

wearing a T shirt carrying the image of the Lord Buddha at a trade complex in Colombo.
