Nine Female Sex Workers Were Arrested From Two Brothel Houses

Nine female sex workers and a male have been
arrested  by a police in two brothel houses  maintained in spate of Ayurveda massage  ("SPA ")centers at Colombo road,Negambo during  raids carried out yesterday (15).

The police officers attached to the organized crimes prevention division cartied out the raids have arrested five female sex workers and the manager of one Brothel house and four female sex workers were arrested from other Brothel House.

The arrested female sec workers are residents of panwila,Ja Ela, Boralesgamuwa, Madampe, Ragama , Negambo ,Kekirawa and Kaduwela areas.


A Person Was Killed Due To A Three Wheeler-Bus Collision

A person was killed and another was injured and
hospitalized due to a Three Wheeler-Bus collision occurred in Kolakanawadiya at Welikanda early this morning (16).

The injured had been admitted to the Polonnaruwa Hospital for treatment.

The deceased had been identified asca resident of Marandamuna area.


A Person Was Killed Due To A Wild Elephant Attack

A 41 year old person was killed due to an Elephant
attack in Mawathawewa area on Anuradhapura-Eppawala main road this morning (16 ).

The critically injured person had succumbed to his injuries after admission to Eppawala Hospital.

The deceased was attacked by the wild elephant while returning home from a hut in his land the police have stated.


Around 40 Acers Of Land In Haggala Reserve Destroyed Due To A Fire

Around  40 acers of land belonging to Haggala reserve
in Nuwara Eliya had been destroyed due to a sudden fire occured in the reserve last night (15).

The fire was jointly doused by the Police ,Army and residents of the area it has been reported.

No casualties have been reported due to the fire.Nuwara Eliya police are conducting an investigation on the incident.

Senior DIG Arrested Over Helping Chief Suspect Of Rape And Murder Of A Jaffna School Girl Remanded Until 25th Of July

The senior Deputy Inspector General Of Police (DIG) in
charge of Central province who was arrested yesterday (15) by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over allowing the chief suspect of the rape and murder of Jaffna School girl Vidya to escape from police custody ,has been remanded by the  Acting Magistrate of Kayts  until 25th of July.

The suspected DIG who was in charge of Jaffna at the time of the incident was remanded after being produced before the additional magistrate.He was transported to Anuradhapura prison after the court ordee.

The van transported the suspected DIG had met with an accident early this morning (16)in Kayts area as the Van was veered off the road and crashed into a post due to driver of the van had fallen a sleep.However no one was injured due to the incident.

The suspected DIG has been arrested and remanded over allowing the chief suspect of the rape and murder case of Shivayoganathan Vidya ,Swiss Kumar to escape from the custody.

The rape and murder of the Jaffna school girl occurred on 13th of May 2015.
