Bribery Commission Officials Have Arrested A Police Constable Over Accepting Rs.10,000 Bribe
Bribery Commission Officials have arrested a Police Constable attached to the Special Crimes Investigation Unit of the Panadura Police over accepting a Rs.10,000 from an individual to grant bail for a suspect who was arrested by the Police on financial fraud ,at a private shop in front of the Panadura Police.
Bribery Commission Officials have arrested the suspected Police Constable as per an information received by the Individual who was asked to offer the bribe to the Constable.
The Constable has earlier requested the individual a Rs.100,000 bribe it has been revealed.

Three Persons Of A Same Family Had Drowned In Uma Oya While Bathing
Three persons of the same family ,Mother,Daughter and two and half year old Grand Daughter had drowned in Uma Oya at Puhulpola ,Welimada area while bathing this morning(12)it has been reported.
The three members of the family went to take a bath in a 50 feet deep area of the Oya and drowned while bathing a eye witness had informed the Police.
Welimada Police are conducting an Investigation on the incident.

Cabinet Has Approved A Proposal To Ban The Prodcution,Use and Sale Of Polythene From 01st Of September
Cabinet has approved a proposal made by the Minister of Environment and Central Environment Authority (CEA) to ban the production,use and sale of Polythene Lunch Sheets,Regiform Lunch Boxes and Shopping Bags with effect from 01st of September 2017.
Accordingly the use of Polythene sheets less than 20 microns will be banned from 01st of September the Deputy Minister of Mahaweli Development and Environment Anuradha Jayaratne.
Those individuals,Production Companies and shops not implementing this decision on banning Polythene Products locally ,will be faced a legal action and raids will be carried out in district basis to inspect whether the ban implemented or not.
Government has decided to ban Polythene to prevent the damage done to the environment by mid 2018.
