University Of Moratuwa Had Closed Due To Spreading Of Dengue And Viral Flu

Moratuwa Campus had closed today (01) for two
weeks due to the spread of Dengue and a Viral flu among the University students according to the University authorities.

More than 80 University students have been infected with Dengue and one female student has died due to the disease up to now the authorities have stated.


Due to Dengue mosquito breeding places in hostals of the University and the houses around them Dengue has spreaded rapidly among students they have revealed.Meanwhile A group of Moratuwa University Students have conducted a protest campaign this morning in front of the University demanding solution for the Dengue problem.

Bus Fares Increased By 6.28% With Effect From Today

The price of Bus fares will be increased with effect
from today (01) by 6.28% according to the National Transport Commission.

Accordingly the minimum Bus fare will be increased by one rupee from Rs.9 to Rs.10 and Bus fares of  Rs.12 ,Rs,13,Rs.16,Rs.20 and Rs.24 also increased by one rupee each with effect from today.

Other Bus fares too increased by 6.28 % the Commission has stated.

Postal Services Back To Normalcy After The Strike Ended

Postal services which disrupted for three days due to
the island wide continuous strike launched by the Postal workers returned to normalcy yesterday (30)after the Postal Workers trade unions called off their strike last Thursday (29)night.

The strike had called off following the discussions held between the government and the representatives of Postal Trade Unions on Thursday.

Postal workers trade unions have launched the strike demanding the halting of the decesion to sell post offices for a tourist hotel project and solve long standing administrative problems of the Postal Department.
