Panadura High Court Judge Sentenced Five Police Officers To Death Over A Murder Occurred In 27 Years Ago

 Weerawardane has today (30)sentenced five police officers attached to the Panadura Special Crimes Investigations Unit to death over a shooting and kiling of a suspect while in custody 27 years ago.

Accordingly the Judge has sentenced the five Police Officers including a Superintendant of police and four sargents over the killing which had taken place in June 1990.The suspect who was shot and killed while in police custody was arrested in Bandaragama over a robbery it has been revealed.

Although the murder occurred in 1990 the complaint was lodged against the Police officers by the relatives of the suspect in 2006 and the suspected Police officers were arrested over the incident and remanded on 22nd of June this year.

The Police officers in a death row are currently attached to the police stations in Nivithigala, Lunugala,Mirihana,and Dehiaththakandiya it has been revealed.

Around Five Passengers Were Injured Due To A Road Accident In Badulle

Around five Passengers have been injured and hospitalized after the Sri Lanka Transport Board bus they were traveling from Kandegedera to Badulla veering off the road at Diyanavalage area in Badulle this morning(30).

The injured were admitted to the Badulle and Kandegedera Hospitals.

Police have raided a large scale fake American Dollar notes printing Center in Diyathalawa today(30) and arrested three persons in the Center along with 5200 fake American Dollar notes

The suspects have informed the  Diyathalawa Police that the Dollar notes printed on a black colored paper becomes visible as real Dollar notes after adding a chemical to the paper .

The raid was carried out as per an information received by the Police.

Two Persons Were Injured Due To A Lorry Accident In Ravana Falls Area

Two persons  had been injured and hospitalized  after a Lorry they were traveling in falling down to a nearly 300 feet deep precipice at Ravana Falls(Ella) area on Ella-Wellawaya road this morning(30).

The injured who are resident of Kalmunai area Were admitted to the Badulle Hospital for treatment.

Ella Police are conducting an investigation on the incident.
 

Around 19 Persons Injured Due To A Road Accident In Hali Ela

Around 19 persons have been injured and hospitalized after a Van they were traveling in falling down a 150 feet deep  precipice at a Paregedera Junction in Hali Ela area today(30).

The injured persons have been admitted to the Badulla General Hospital for treatment and one passenger is in critical condition according to the reports.The accident occurred while the Van travelling from Nawalagama to Badulle.
