Health Ambulance Drivers To Launch Two Day Island Wide Strike

Health Ambulance drivers are due to launch an island wide two day strike action on tomorrow( 27) and the day after (28) by demanding solutions for few of their service demands according to the All Ceylon Health Services Union.


The two day strike will be launched by demanding halting the transfers of 11 Health Ambulance drivers attached to Eastern Provincial council to various departments and establish an Ambulance service in few provinces which do not have the service at the moment and solutions for few other demands the union has stated.

The All Ceylon Health Services Union has requested a discussion from the Health Minister Regarding the demands of Ambulance drivers few days ago.

A Female And A Seven Year Old Child Were Killed Due To A Three Wheeler-Cab Collision

A female and a seven year old child were killed and
two others were critically injured and hospitalized after the Three wheeler they were traveling in colliding with a cab in front of  the Dharmapala Collage on Panavala- Ehaliyagoda road.

The injured were admitted to the Ehaliyagoda Hospital.

Ehaliyagoda Police have arrested the Cab driver regarding the accident.Accident was occurred due to the high speed of the Cab according to the Police.

Dengue Patients Are Being Reported From Every District-National Dengue Control Unit

 Dengue patients are being reported from every
district of the country at present due to the various environmental factors according to the national co-ordinator of National Dengue Control Unit Dr Hasitha Thissera.

Due to this situation it is very important that every person in the society should contribute to the National Dengue Programme  by destroying Dengue mosquito breeding places in their areas Dr.Thissera has stated.

Around 14 districts have been identified as Dengue Risk Zones and Colombo District is the highest affected district  with 14 out of the 15 provincial secretariats in the district have been identified as Dengue Risk Zones.

Sri Lanka Navy Have Arrested 14 Indian Fishermen While Illegally Fishing In Sri Lankan Waters

Sri Lanka Navy have arrested 14 Indian fishermen while illegally
fishing in Sri Lankan waters in Thalaimannar area and the sea area near Delft Island .

Accordingly eight Indian fishermen have been arrested in the sea area near Delft Island with two trawlers and six fishermen were arrested in the sea area of Thalaimannar area with a trawler boat while fishing through banned bottom trawling system .

The two groups of Indian fishermen along with their trawlers and equipment are due to be handed over to the assistant directors of fisheries in Jaffna and Thalaimannar respectively for future course of action.
