During The Doctors Strike A Government Hospital Doctor Caught While Performing Private Practice In Galewela

During the doctors strike launched today(23) in
Government Hospitals island wide by the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) ,a doctor attached to a government hospital (believed to be from Kekirawa Hospital) had performed private practice in front of the Galewala Government Hospital it has been revealed.

When the media personal visited the Private Channal Center of the relevant doctor and asked him about the strike,he suddenly stopped  checking the patient with him at that moment  and ran away from the Center by stating that he was not aware the strike is on today.

The doctor had crossed the road and ran away to the nearby Galewela Hospital.

Health professionals are usually not engaged  in private practice during strikes launched in government hospitals.

Government Hospital Laboratories To Open 24 Hours Per Day For Dengue Patients

Ministry of Health is considering to open Government
Hospital laboratories  in Dengue affected Districts 24 hours per day for the benefit of rising number of Dengue Patients.

The Ministry has already distributed Auto Analyzer Machines for the all Government Hospitals with laboratory facilities to support this kind of emergancy situations according to the Health Ministry officials.

This topic had been widely discussed during the Dengue Management Meeting held under the patronage of Health Ministry secretary Janaka Sugathadasa today (23)at the Ministry.

Around 20% out of the 69,043  Dengue patients reported from the country this year up to now were school children and therefore the National Dengue Control Unit has requested from the parents to apply mosquito repellants like citronella oil on their body to avoid mosquito bites.

Colombo Urban Council Informed The Supreme Court That It Will Not Dispose Colombo Garbage To Meethotamulle

Colombo Urban Council has today(23) informed the Supreme Court that the Council will not dispose the Colombo Garbage to the Meethotamulle Garbage mound anymore .

Image result for meethotamulla garbage moundThe Supreme Court was informed on this after the fundamental rights  petition filed by a group of residents in Meethotamulle area seeking issuing of a  court order to ban disposing Garbage at the Garbage Mound taken into consideration today.

The attorney at law representing behalf of the Colombo Urban Council has informed the Court  that the Council will prepare an alternative programme to dispose Colombo Garbage  .

The case is due to proceed on 27th of September.

Executive Director Of Institute Of Policy Studies Dr.Saman Kalegama Has Passed Away

The Executive Director of the Sri Lanka Institute Of Policy Studies Dr.Saman Kalegama has passed away today at the age of 58 while touring Thailand it has been announced.

The well known scholar of  Sri Lanka Dr.Kelegama has served as  a consultant economist and a policy maker .He was a regular speaker in local and international economic conferences .
