Prime Minister Wikramasinghe Had Pledged To Construct And Renovate The Damaged Schools In Flood Affected Areas Soon

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe who visited the
flood affected areas in Southern Province last Thursday (15)had pledged the school children there that the government will take steps to construct and renovate all the  schools damaged or destroyed due to the recent floods soon.

New school equipment including computers will be provided for those schools which the equipment destroyed due to floods as soon as possible the Prime Minister has stated.

During his visit to the flood affected areas premier had visited several areas in Matara district damaged due to the recent floods including pitabaddera,morawaka  and kotapola areas and inspected the situation.

Two Youths Arrested With 50 Grammes Of Poweful "Ice"Narcotic In Colombo

Police Narcotics Bureau  have arrested two youths
with 50 grammes of most powerful narcotic in the world today "Ice"in Kotahena area .

The estimated value of the stock of "Ice"taken into custody along with the suspects is around Rs.1 million it has been revealed.

The users of narcotic "Ice"which entered the local market illegally recently, are reported as become violent  and have physical illnesses like fatal kidney and lung disorders,liver disease,stroke,excessive weight loss,diminished social ability,disorganized chaotic ,damaging life style and severe dental disorders according to the Australian researchers.

A Person Was Arrested With 141 Kilo Grammes Of Kerala Cannabis In Mannar

Mannar Police have today (16)arrested a 43 year old
person with 141 Kilo Grammes of Kerala cannabis transported by a motorcycle in Selawathura,Mannar area.

The haul of Kerala Cannabis transported by the suspect was brought to the Mullikulama sea coast area in Selawathura,Mannar from India through fisheries boats according to the police.

The value of the haul of Kerala Cannabis taken into custody in possession  of the suspect is estimated as Rs. 1.7 million.

Police Narcotic bureau officials in Mannar District along with Naval officers have jointly carried out the raid.

Water Level In Kukule Ganga (River)Has Reached Sluice Gate Level-People Are Advised To Be Vigilant

The Disaster Management Center has requested the
people living around Kukule Ganga (River) (Kalutara)  to be vigilant as the water level of the river now increased to sluice gate level following the heavy showers prevailing in the area.

Heavy and normal showers prevailing in some parts of the country at present and people in Ratnapura ,Kegalle,Galle,Matara,Hambanthota,Nuwara Eliya and Kalutara districts should be vigilant as landslide threats are there the Center has stated.

Meanwhile the Department of Meteorology has stated that rain over 100 mili meters could be expected to fall in Ratnapura,Kalutara,Galle and Matara districts within next 24 hours.
