Public Have Been Advised To Be Vigilant Over The Weather Conditions As Landslide/Flood Threats Still There

The Disaster Management Center has requested the Public to be vigilant over the weather conditions in their areas  as  landslide and flood threats may have occurred again in different places of  the country after the announcement made by  Meteorology Department  that heavy showers will prevails in many districts during next few days as well.

Public should have responded positively to the landslide and flood threat warnings  issued by the authorities the Center has stated.\

It has been revealed that in some areas where  landslide warnings have been issued by the  National Building Research Organization ,residents are avoiding  evacuation.

Around 22 Families Have Been Evacuated Due To Landslide Threat In Bulathsinghale

Around 22 families living around Thibbotuwakanda area in Bulathsinghale(Kalutara District) have been evacuated due to the landslide threat in Thibbotuwakanda  .

As a landslide warning issued regarding the area authorities have evacuated the families as a precautionary measure and moved them to safe places it has been reported.

Death Toll Due To The Adverse Weather Arisen To 224

The death toll due to the adverse weather conditions
prevailing in the country had arisen to 224 and 78 persons are still missing according to the latest statistics.

More than 700,000 persons have been displaced and affected due to the adverse weather the Disaster Management Center has stated.

Due to the landslides and floods 2093 houses have been completely destroyed and 11,056 houses have been partially destroyed in the adverse weather affected districts.

Around 25,245 displaced persons have been sheltered in 225 makeshift camps the Disaster Management Center has stated.
