A Group Of Unidentified Persons Shot And Killed A Police Constable In piliyandala

A group of unidentified persons arrived in two

motorcycles had shot and killed a police constable attached to a Police Narcotics Bureau and wounded four  others including two small children,A police superintendent and a Police constable  near a state bank on Piliyandala-Moratuwa road few hours ago.

The injured were hospitalized and the condition of a small girl is critical it has been revealed.

The incident occurred when a team of Police oficers
Attached to a police narotic bureau went to Piliyandala for a narcotic raid.

A 24 Year Old Was Killed And Two Others Have Been Injured Due To A Gun Shooting

A  group of  persons had shot and killed a 24 year old youth  and injured two others in  Welipanne,Kaluthara area it has been reported.

The injured have been admitted to the Nagoda Hospital for treatment.

Welipanne Police are conducting an investigations to arrest the suspects it has been revealed.

A 45 Year Old Person Was Killed Due To A Wild Elephant Attack

A 45 year old person was killed due to a wild elephant attack whilst he went to  the forest in search of firewood in Dagavilla,Naula area.

The critically injured person had succumbed to his injuries after admission to the Dambulla Hospital.

The deceased was a resident of Puttalam area.

A 69 Year Old Female Was Killed After Colliding With A Bus In Ampara

A 69 year old female was killed after colliding with a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus at Ampara Bus Stand according to the Ampara Police.The accident has  occurred after the Bus moved away from the Bus stand and the critically injured female had succumbed to her injuries after admission to the Ampara Base Hospital.

The deceased had been identified as a resident of Udayapura area and Police have arrested the Bus Driver regarding the accident.

President Sirisena Has Appointed New Vice Chancellors To Peradeniya And Eastern Universities

President Maithripala Sirisena has today(09) handed over the appointment letters to the new Vice Chancellors appointed to  Peradeniya and Eastern Universities today(09) in Colombo according to the President's Media Division.

Accordingly Professor K.M.D Silva has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the University Of Peradeniya and Dr.Vivekananda Raja has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the Eastern University.
