Colombo High Court Has Issued Summons To Five Respondents Including MP Namal Rajapakshe

Colombo High Court has today (03) )issued Summons
against five respondents including United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Namal Rajapakshe  over not revealing  how they have  earned a sum of RS.30 million .

The summons were issued against the respondents on a case filed against them  by Attorney General  under the money laundering act.

High Court Judge Piyadasa Ranasinghe had  ordered the five respondants to appear before the court on 06 th of June regarding the court case against them when the case was taken into consideration Today.
.

Sri Lanka Navy Have Arrested Seven Local Fishermen While Engaging In Illegal Fishing

Image result for illegal fishing in sri lankaSri Lanka Navy have arrested seven Sri Lankan Fishermen while engaging in illegal fishing activities by using explosives in South Bar of Mannar(Northern Province) yesterday(02).

Along with the fishermen the Navy Personal have taken into custody around 2,210 Kilo Grammes Of Fish ,two Dinghi Boats ,Four  unauthorized fishing nets ,six diving masks and six pairs of diving fins.

The Navy Personal handed over the arrested fishermen along with the equipment to Assistant Fisheries Director in Mannar for future course of action.

Airport Customs Officers Arrested A Sri Lankan Attempted To Smuggle Foreign Currencies To Sinagpore

Image result for katunayake airportAirport Customs Officers have this morning(03) arrested a Sri Lankan National who attempted to smuggle US Dollars1.39 billion worth Danish Kronars and Saudi Riyals illegally to Singapore at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport .

The 59 year old suspect who is a resident of Akurana,Kandy  tried to smuggle the foreign currencies out of the country by concealed them in his luggage it has been reported.The suspect was arrested while preparing to fly Singapore.

Court Of Appeal Has Annunced That MP Geetha Kumarasinghe Not Qualified To Hold A MP Post

Image result for GEETHA KUMARASINGHEThe Court of Appeal has today(03) announced that the United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP and former local film star Geetha Kumarasinghe has not qualified to hold a MP Post in Sri Lanka as she holds dual citizenship in Sri Lanka and Switzerland.

Court Of Appeal Judge Preethi Padman Surasena has announced the verdict this morning when the case against MP Kumarasinghe was taken into consideration.

According to the 19th Amendment of the Sri Lankan constitution no one who holds a dual citizenship can contest a local election or elect as a member of the Parliament  and MP Geetha Kumarasinghe contested the recent local Parliamentary Election in 2015 for Galle District by holding a dual citizenship it has been reported.

Four voters in Galle District had filed a petition in Court Of Appeal in 2015 by challenging the MP Kumarasinghe's MP Post.

MP Kumarasinghe had been elected  to the Parliament from Galle District in 2015 with 62,374 votes.According to the verdict she is in a position of loosing her Parliamentary seat.

However she has decided to file an appeal in Supreme Court against the verdict given by the Court Of Appeal against her it has been reported.

A Person Was Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Collision Of Five Vehicles

A person was critically injured and hospitalized after  a Tipper Truck colliding with four vehicles a Van ,Two Motorcycles and a Three Wheeler parked near the Nawalapitiya Base Hospital on Kothmale road in the wee hours of this morning(03).

The injured person who was in the Van at the time of the accident  had been admitted to Nawalapitiya Base Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Tipper Truck which traveling from Gampola to Thalawakale lost control of the vehicle due to a technical problem and collided with the four parked vehicles it has been revealed.

Police have arrested the Tipper Truck driver regarding the accident.
