A 12 Year Old Boy Confirmed As Dead And 12 Injured Due To Collapsing Of Meethotamulle Garbage Dump

A 12 year old child has been confirmed
as  dead and 12 other injured persons  had been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment following the collapse of a section of the Meethotamulle Garbage Dump this evening (14) according to the latest reports.

Angry residents in the area had set fire a backo mechine stationed on the garbage dump and Airforce have used a bell-212 helicopter to douse the fire it has been revealed .

Rescue efforts are continuing in search of the survivors according to the Police .

Relief Teams Are Engaging In Rescue Operation In Search Of Trapped Victims In Meethotamulle Garbage Dump

Relief teams including tri force personal
are currently being involving in an efforts to rescue the residents trapped in around 100 houses buried due to the collapse of a section of a Meethotamulle Garbage Dump this evening (14).

Government has requested the public to avoid visiting the area as it may have disturb the relief efforts.

Meanwhile residents near the Meethotamulle Garbage Dump have opposed the several politicians including Minister A.H.M Fowzie who have visited to inspect the situation.

Life Saving Teams Rescued Three Persons Including Two Foreigners When They Were Being Washed Away

The life saving teams attached to the
Coastal Conservation Department had rescued three persons including two Foreign Nationals and a local when they were being washed away by the sea waves whilst  bathing in coastal sea areas of Mirissa and Hikkaduwa yesterday (13).

Accordingly an Iranian National  , an Indian National and a local residing in Mount Lavinia have rescued by the life saving teams.

A 58 year old person was killed after a
branch of a tree had fallen on to a Three Wheeler he was travelling  in  yesterday  (13) in Alokapura,Hambanthota(Southern Province) .

The branch of a tree had collapsed onto the Three Wheeler during the heavy showers prevailed there at the time.
