Fifteen Peradeniya University Undergraduates Arrested Over Ragging Had Been Further Remanded

Fifteen University students attached to the Peradeniya University who were

arrested and remanded over ragging a group of first year students of the same University had been remanded until 16th of March after being produced before the Kandy Magistrate Court yesterday (02).

The suspects who are second year students attached to the faculty of Agriculture in the University Of Peradeniya were arrested during a search operation carried out on 20 th of February .

They were suspended by the University authorities after their arrest.

An Elephant In Ampara Critically Injured Due To Halkapatas

An elephant in Damana, Ampara area critically injured due to eating food

containing "Hakkapatas" it has been revealed.

A group of veterinary surgeons are currently giving treatment to the injured elephant .

The elephant is around 15 to 20 years old according to reports .

Most senior Supreme Court judge Priyasad Depp has taken oath as

 the 45th Chief Justice in Sri Lanka this morning(02) before the President Maithripala Sirisena in President's Official Residence in Colombo.

Earlier Constitutional Council had met and  selected the Supreme Court Judge Depp as the new Chief Justice of Sri Lanka.
