Police Have Arrested An Egyptian National For Staying In Sri Lanka Without Valid Visa

Police have arrested an Egyptian National staying in Sri Lanka without a valid visa last evening in Colpetty (Colombo) area.

Police have currently investigating on  whether the suspect  involved in any  illegal activity in Sri Lanka.

Members Of The Presidential Commission Investigating The Bond Scam Issue To Visit Central Bank Today(01)

 are due to visit Central
Bank today(01) to view a  new bond issue of the Bank.

A group of lawyers representing Attorney General's Department are also due to visit Central Bank today to view the bond issue according to sources.

Meanwhile the secretary to the Ministry Of Finance Dr.R.H.S Samarathunge had appeared before the Commission yesterday (28) to give evidence regarding the Bond Scam .Earlier the Central Bank governor Dr.Indrajit  Coomaraswamy had given evidence before the Commission .

Police Recovered The Van Used By The Assailants Who Were Shot At A Prison Bus

Police officers investigating the gun shooting incident at a Prison Bus
 yesterday (27),recovered a white Dolphin Van abandoned by the assailants in Horana area today(28).

The abandoned  van belonging to a resident of Trincomalee it has been revealed .

Meanwhile Police have stated that the shooting incident which killed seven persons including an underworld criminals and prison officers  was carried out under the guidance of Underworld Gang leaders Angoda Lokka and Kamburipitiye Madush .

SAITM Authorities Temporarily Suspended The Duties Of It's CEO Sameera Senaratne

The authorities of the Malabe Private Medical Collage (SAITM) had today(28)
temporarily suspended the duties of Chief executive officer of the  Collage and Neville Fernando Memorial Hospital  Sameera Senaratne with immediate effect.

The duties of the  SAITM CEO had been suspended to support the ongoing investigations of Police regarding the gun shooting at Senaratne's motor car last January according to the SAITM Authorities .

Meanwhile the Police Officers  investigating  the shooting incident revealed earlier today that the shooting at SAITM CEO's car was  a fake incident created to show that his life was in threat.

Consumer Affairs Authority Officers Recovered 42,100 Kilos Of Rice Hidden In Three Shops In Pettah

The officers attached to the Consumer Affairs Authority had today(28) recovered 42,100 Kilo Grammes of Rice hidden in three shops in Pettah(Colombo)  to  keep away from selling in the market.

The Officers carried out the raid, sealed the three shops which hidden the Rice stock and due to take a legal action against the shop owners.

Meanwhile during the last two days officers attached to Consumer Affairs authority raided 172 shops in the island that sold Rice for above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) fixed for Rice according to sources.Legal action had been taken against 1367  businessman and sellers for violating the consumer laws.
