Fire Erupted In A Multi Storied Shop In Pettah Brought Under Control

Fire Brigade has doused a fire erupted
in a multi stotied shop selling plastic items located at a third storey of a storied building in first cross street ,Pettah this morning (18).

Nine trucks belonging to Fire Brigade were used to douse the fire it has been revealed .

Fire fighters have struggled hours to control the fire as it spreads faster due to the plastic ware and toys stored in the shop.

New Price Control Mechanism Introduced For Three Varieties Of Local Rice

Government has introduced a new price control mechanism for three
 local Rice varieties with effect from yesterday (17).

Accordingly the maximum control price of a Kilo of local Nadu Rice will be RS.80 .A kilo of Samba RS.90 and a Kilo of red raw Rice RS.78.

Due to the price control mechanism a shortage of rice has been reported   in many parts of the Country .

A Female Was Killed And Four Others Injured Due To A Road Accident

A female was killed and four
others were injured and hospitalized after the three wheeler they were travelling in lost it's control and toppled over on Embilipitiya Main Road at Bisokotuwa Junction ,Rathnapura today(17).

Five persons in the Three Wheeler admitted to the Embilipitiya Hospital for treatment and the critically injured female among them who was a resident in kandana area had succumbed to her injuries after admission to thr Hospital it has been revealed.


Five Pharmacy Owners Had Been Arrested In Matale Over Selling Antibiotics Without A Medical Prescription

The food and drug inspectors attached to the
Independent Drug Regulatory Authority had taken into custody five pharmacy owners in Matale District (Central Province)who were responsible for issuing  Antibiotic Drugs without a medical prescription ,during a raid carried out  yesterday (16).

The suspects were later released on cash bail of Rs.100,000 each after being produced before the Matale Provincial Court .

The suspected Pharmacy Owners are due to be produced before the court again on 03rd of March over the offence of selling Antibiotics without a prescription according to the chief food and drug inspector of Drug Regulatory Authority Amith Perera.
