Five Pharmacy Owners Had Been Arrested In Matale Over Selling Antibiotics Without A Medical Prescription

The food and drug inspectors attached to the
Independent Drug Regulatory Authority had taken into custody five pharmacy owners in Matale District (Central Province)who were responsible for issuing  Antibiotic Drugs without a medical prescription ,during a raid carried out  yesterday (16).

The suspects were later released on cash bail of Rs.100,000 each after being produced before the Matale Provincial Court .

The suspected Pharmacy Owners are due to be produced before the court again on 03rd of March over the offence of selling Antibiotics without a prescription according to the chief food and drug inspector of Drug Regulatory Authority Amith Perera.

Sri Lanka Medical Council To Challange The Appeal Court's Decision On SAITM Before The Supreme Court

Members of the Sri Lanka Medical council had today
(17)decided to appeal agInst the Court Of Appeals verdict on registering  medical graduates of Malabe Private Medical Collage (SAITM) in the Medical Council before the Supreme Court.

The decision on appealing against the Court Of Appeals verdict has been taken after the lengthy discussions held with members of the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) .

The Court Of Appeal has ordered the Sri Lanka Medical Council to register all medical graduates passing out from SAITM on 31st of January after taking  into consideration a case filed by a female student of SAITM.

A 19 Year Old Youth Was Killed Due To A Motor Cycle Accident In Batticaloa

A 19 year old youth was killed as the Motor Cycle he was riding in toppled over  the road in Batticaloa (Eastern Province) last night(16).

The accident was occurred after the Motor Cyclist not able to control the speed of the vehicle it has been revealed.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Batticaloa .

A Person Was Arrested Over Disposing Contaminated Milk To Dikoya Canal

Police have arrested a person in Milk Collecting Center at Hatton-Dikoya over disposing 10,000 Liters of contaminated Milk to the Dikoya Canal .

A strange smell appears as the contaminated Milk mixed with water flows towards the reservoir it has been reported.

The Milk Collection Center disposed the stock of contaminated Milk to the Canal after a Milk Powder Manufacturing Company has returned the Milk to the Center over contamination problem  it has been revealed.
