Twenty Nine Persons Arrested Over Hambanthota Clash Further Remanded
Twenty nine Persons arrested over damaging public properties and avoid court orders during the inauguration of China funded Southern Development Project in Hambanthota recently have been further remanded until 30 the of January by the Hambanthota Magistrate yesterday (16).
Ten suspects including a Buddhist Monk who were remanded over the Hambanthota clash had been released yesterday(16) after they were produced before the magistrate Court.
The ten suspects were released on strict bail conditions and each suspect were produced a surety bail of Rs.500.000.
Meanwhile police have arrested another five persons regarding the Hambanthota Clash on last Sunday and they were remanded until 30 th of January by Hambanthota Magistrate.

Police have arrested three persons with around twenty two Kilo Grammes of dry Cannabis during a search operation carried out in Monaragala,Thanamalvila and Hambegamuwa areas on last weekend .
Accordingly nine cannabis cultivation's have raided and taken into the custody twenty two Kilo Grammes of Cannabis worth around forty million rupees it has been revealed.
Police have destroyed the stock of dry cannabis taken into custody due to the transportation problem it has been reported.

Dry Weather Affects Nine Districts In The Country -Met Department
The prevailing dry weather affects nearly fifty thousand people in Nine districts of the country up to now according to the Department Of Meteorology. Accordingly,Hambanthota,Mannar,Trincomalee,Kandy,Badulla,Anuradhapura,Monaragala and Gampaha Districts affected due to the dry weather .Jaffna has been identified as the District which the highest number of persons affected by the drought .
Many complaints have been received from several districts in the island regarding lack of drinking water by the Disaster Management Center it has been revealed.
Meanwhile the Meteorology Department has stated that rain will be experienced within next few days in most parts of the country .

Court Imposed A Oversees Travel Ban On Former Avant Garde Chairman And Another Regarding A Bribery Case
The Colombo Chief Magistrate Lal Bandara has today(16) imposed an oversees travel ban on former Chairman of Avant Garde Company Nissanka Senadhipathi and retired Major General Palitha Fernando for offering and accepting a bribe of Rs.35.5 million respectively.
Colombo Chief Magistrate has also ordered the suspects t o surrender their Passports to the courts.
When the case filed against the suspects on bribery was taken up for hearing today(16) the case was postponed until 03rd of April.By delivering the verdict the Colombo Chief Magistrate has ordered the Bribery Commission to file revised charged against suspects before the next herring date
