Two Females Were Killed Due To A Road Accident At Mattala Airport Road

Two females were killed  and another person was injured and Hospitalized due to a road accident occurred at Pamduwagama area at Mattala Airport road(Southern Province) yesterday(06).

The accident occurred due to the Three Wheeler the deceased were travelling in  skidded off the road and crashed into a nearby tree it has been reported.

A Sudden Fire Erupted In A Forest Reserve At Kotagala -Hatton Area

A sudden fire erupted  in a  Forest Reserve at kotagala-Hatton are(upcountry) this noon(07) spreads to around 25 acres of land so far due to the dry weather condition prevailing  at present according to reports.


The fire brigade  attached   to the Hatton-Dikoya Urban Council along with the residents of the area are trying to douse the fire  it has been reported.

Police have suspected a group of persons may have set the fire to the reserve.

A Chinese National Was Killed After Colliding With A Bus

A 55 year old chinese national  was killed after colliding with a Private Bus at Kalugamuwa area in Kurunagala (North Western Province)today (07).

The critically injured Chinese National who collided with the bus while crossing the road had succumbed to his injuries after admission to  Kurunagala Teaching Hospital.

The deceased who was on his way to Kurunagala with a group of fellow Chinese Nationals from a vehicle ,stopped the vehicle and crossed the road at the time he met with the accident it has been reported.

Twenty Three Persons Including Eleven Policemen Injured At A Clash In Hambanthota

Twenty three persons including Eleven Policemen were injured and Hospitalized this evening following a clash occurred between a group of protesters including some joint opposition MP's  and Buddhist Monks and Police Officers during a launching of Hambanthota-Southern Development Project in  Hambanthota(Southern Province) today(07).

The injured were admitted to the Hambanthota Hospital for treatment .

The clash occurred after a group of protesters opposing China funded Hambanthota-Southern Development project entered the premises forcibly where the launching ceremony  was held under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe.

Although security was Tightened  along the road leading to the  premises where the launching ceremony was held,the protesters who begun the protest March from prabodhaa ramaya temple in Ambalanthota arrived at the premises through alternative routes .

As some of the protesters began to pelt stones ,Police fired tear gas and water cannon at the protesters it has been reported.

The Inspector General Of Police Pujitha Jayasundara Has also arrived at the scene.

Earlier in the day Prime Minister Wikramasinghe had launched the Hambanthota -Southern Development Project .
