Two Persons Were Killed Due To A Lorry-Three Wheeler Collision

Two persons were killed and another two were
injured  and hospitalized this evening due to a Lorry-Three Wheeler collision occurred at Dunakadeniya area on Naththandiya-Kuliyapitiya Road(North Western  Province).

The two deceased were identified as 32 and 34 years old from Welipanna area.They were in the Three Wheeler at the time of the accident it has been reported.

More Than Half Of The Land Area In Badulla District Identified As Endagered With Landslides-NBRO

In Badulla District 66.91% of the total land area
vulnerable to Landslides according to a latest survry carried out by the National Building Research Organization (NBRO).

During a meeting held at Disaster Management Center recently, Badulla Government Agent Nimal Abeysiri has stated that 79.32 Square Kilo Meters that is 2.77%  of the total  land area  in Badulla District has been identified as high risk area for Landslides.

According to the survey 16.37% of the land area in Badulla  has been  identified as medium risk area and 47.76% identified as minimum risk area he has stressed.Only 942.92 Square Kilo Meter area which is 32.95% of the total land area in Badulla is safe the Badull GA has revealed.

Sri Lanka Transport Board To Increase The Passenger Fine For Travelling SLTB Buses Without A Ticket

Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has submitted a
proposal to the Ministry Of Transport to increase the fine imposed on passengers who are travelling from SLTB Buses without purchasing  a  ticket to Rs.1000 from Rs.250.

The proposal has been made after revealed that  many  passengers travelling through SLTB Buses without purchasing a ticket.

Sri Lanka Railways Department has also increased the fine imposed on passengers travelling without a ticket from trains with effect from 01st of January.

Retired Army Major General Kamal Gunaratne Has Settled A Dispute With The Student At A Police Station

Retired Army Major General Kamal Gunaratne who
waa charged for threatening a School Boy of a leading school during G.C.E Ordinary Level examination has appeared before Cinnamon Garden Police and settled the matter  with the threatened student and his mother according to the Police.

The student has made a complaint to the Cinnamon Garden  Police on 17th of December  by accusing  that Retured Army Major General Gunaratne had   grabbed him  by his shirt collar during an interval  of the G.C.E Ordinary Level Exam paper on 14th of December .
