Government Pharmacists To Hold A Protest Campaign In Front Of The Health Ministry
Government Hospital Pharmacists have decided to
hold a protest campaign in front of Ministry Of Health in Colombo on this Wednesday (21)by demanding solutions for five of their service demands.
Accordingly Government Pharmacists are due to hold the protest campaign in front of Health Ministry from 11 a.m to 1 p.m the Government Pharmacists Union has announced.

Government To Import 10,000 Metric Tonnes Of Rice During Next Werk
Government is due to import 10,000 metric tonnes of
Samba and Nadu Rice to Sri Lanka during next week and will be issued to the consumers for Rs.50-60 per kilo gramme according to the Minister Of Rural Economy affairs P.Harrison.
The prices of Rice in the local market are on the rise according to the reports.
Due to this situation government has decided to issue 195,000 metric tonnes of paddy to the local market out of the 200,000 metric tonnes available in government stores .
The prices of Rice in local market is on the increase due to some Rice Mill owners and businessmen had created a fake Rice shortage in the market Minister had Stated.

Internationally Renowned Sri Lankan Poet Anne Ranasimghe Passed Away
Internationally renowned German born Sri Lankan
poet Anne Ranasinghe nee "Katz" passed away on 17th of December at the age of 91 it has been announced.
The late poet who was born in Essen ,Germany on 02nd of October 1925 ,became a citizen of Sri Labka in 1956 after she married a Sri Lankan Professor.
Her first collection of poems "And the sun that sucks the earth to dry" was published in 1971.During her career she has won numerous Local and International awards including Sri Lanka Arts Council prize for poetry in 1985 and 1992 and non fiction in 1987.
Late Anne Ranasinghe has also published short stories,essays and translations.She was born as Anneliese Katz and escaped from Germany to England during Nazi rule.

Post Master General Has Cancelled Leave Of All Postal Workers For 48 Hours
Post Master General has decided to cancel leave of all
postal workers with effect from midnight tonight (19) up to midnight of this wednesday (21).
Post Master General has taken this decision following the announcement made by Allied Joint Postal Unions Front that they will launch a 48 hour strike with effect from midnight tonight by demanding solutions for seven of their service demands.
The aim of cancellation postal workers leave is to maintain postal service continuously.
