Police Have Arrested Four Suspects With Nine kilo Grammes Of Heroin

Police have arrested four persons with nine grammes
of Heroin in their possession yesterday(12) at Madampe in Chilaw area .

The four suspects were arrested while they were transporting the Heroin according to reports.Police have also taken in to custody the Van the suspects were traveling in.

It has been revealed that the suspects had been responsible for several crime activities.

Express Highway Toll Fee To Be Reduced By Rs.50 From 01st Of January

The budget proposal to reduce the express highway
toll fee by Rs.50 for travel during 9 p.m to 5 a.m will be implemented with effect from 01st of January next year (2017) according to the Road Development Authority.

The gazette notification in this regard will be issued next week the chairman of the Road Development Authority Nihal Suriyaarachchi has stated.

Air Force Rescue Team Located The Five Missing Persons At Sri Pada

The Sri Lanka Air Force rescue team engaging in
search operation to find out the five persons  who have gone missing since yesterday (12) evening after entering Hamilton forest reserve in historic Sri Pada religious site have been  located the missing persons this evening according to reports.

The five missing persons including two females are being located by rescue team carried by  Sri Lanka Air Force bell-412 Helicopter .

Earlier one of the missing persons made a call to 119 emergency line and informed that they entered  the forest reserve to see a dwarf elephant lives in Seven Virgin hills and will set up a fire so the rescue teams can find  the place they are in.

Earlier it has been reported five pilgrims have gone missing after entering the Hamilton forest reserve.

The five missing persons  including the son of the Laxapana Tea Estate Manager,his friends and a domestic guide entered the forest reserve through the upper division of Lakxapana Estate according to the Nallathanniya Police.

Four out of the five missing persons are residents of Nugegoda (Colombo) it has been stated.

Sri Lanka's internal war between Sri Lanka Army and
LTTE which ended in May 2009 had cost the country Rs.200 billion according to the former Indian Foreign Secretary and National Security Advisor Shivhankar Menon.

This estimate does not include the opportunity cost which was once  the fastest growing and the most open economy in South Asia according to the former Indian Foreign Secretary Menon's book "Choices inside the making of India's Foreign Policy" the Indian media has stated.

The book has stated that  during  1983-2009 around 80,000 -100,000  lost their livesvdue to the war.Among them were 30,000-50,000 civilians ,23,790 Sri Lanka Army personal , 27,693 LTTE Rebels and 1155 members of Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF).

The final stages of war created a little over 300,000 refugees or internally displaced persons(IDP'S)  and had also left around 1.6 million land mines in the north and eastern provinces.

The former Indian National Security Advisor Menon has stated from his book that LTTE Leader prabhakaren had left his Sri Lankan Tamil community gutted and brutalized by his war.
