Minister Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has stated today(09) that he proposed the Economic Stability Committee headed by Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe to adapt a system implemented in Germany on Airlifting Accident victims to Hospitals .
"Even President Maithripala Sirisena had informed me to implement a system like this in Sri Lanka as it is the best kind of system suited here due to heavy traffic congestion prevailing in most of our main roads" Minister has stressed.
Addressing a ceremony held at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall(BMICH) to launch "A National Policy on Accident and Emergency Treatment" Minister Dr.Senaratne has stated that the lives of thousands of Accident Victims can be saved by transporting them to the Hospital during the first hour after an accident occurred known as the "Golden Hour".
Through increasing the road accident fines and other measures taken to minimize the road accidents the Health Ministry and the Government expecting to reduce the road accidents in Sri Lanka by 30% he has stressed.
Meanwhile according to the Ministry of Health ,Rs.7748 million allocated to build new accident services in 28 government hospitals.
