Western Province).A sub inspector was killed and a Police Sargent and a Constable were injured and hospitalized last night after a group of persons in a motor car with a fake number plate shot them while trying to search the car parked on Kurunagala-Puttalam Road at Maspotha area(North The Police Team arrived in Police Mobile Service vehicle to inspect the motor car with fake number plate were shot by the gunmen inside the car and after police officers shot them back the gunmen fled away from the scene it has been reported.
Following the gun shooting three injured police officers were admitted to the Kurunagala Teaching Hospital and the sub inspector was succumbed to his injuries on admission police have stated.
Meanwhile police have arrested the gunman who shot and killed the sub inspector and injured two other officers while traveling from a bus at pallandeniya area.
