Health Minister To Take Action Against Some Oncologists Who Are Spreading Rumours On A Drug Shortage At Apeksha Hospital
Minister Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has instructed the Health Ministry Secretary Anura Jayawikrame to investigate on some oncologists attached to the "Apeksha"Hospital in Maharagama who are spreading rumours among patients that the Hospital has a drug shortage .
Some oncologists attached to Apeksha Hospital who refused to prescribe the essential Cancer Drug imported from Russia are behind the creating of this false drug shortage story the Minister has stated during a health institution heads meeting held at the Health Ministry .
Minister has advised the Health Minustry Secretary to conduct an investigation on this and submit an investigation report to him within one week period.After receiving the investigation report a disciplinary action will be taken against those oncologists who are refusing to accept the Russian cancer drug the Health Minister said.
A group of Oncologists attached to the Apeksha Hospital recently toured Denmark and a Pharmaceutical company importing Cancer Drugs to Sri Lanka was organized this tour Health Minister has stressed while stating a seperate investigation should be conducted in this regard.

A Person With A Hand Grenade In His Possession Arrested In Trincomalee
The Trincomalee Police have arrested a person who was responsible for number of crimes in the area including of House Burglary with a live hand grenade in his possession at linganagar in Trincomalee today (06).

Navy Have Arrested Five Local Fishermen Who Were Engaged in Illegal Fishing At Mannar.
Sri Lanka Navy have arrested five local fishermen who were engaged in illegal fishing by using banned fishing nets and explosives in the seas off southern bar of Mannar(Northern Province).
Navy have taken into custody four unauthorized fishing nets ,A dinghy boat,four pairs of diving fins and 550 Kilo Grammes of Fish along with the fishermen.
The arrested fishermen along with the equipment and fish were handed over to the assistant director of fidheries in mannar for future course of action.

Health Ministry To Introduce Health Pictorial Warnings For Local Tobacco Products Beedi And Cigars
Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine is considering to print health pictorial warnings on wrappers of altetnative tobacco products "Beedi" and "Cigars"(Suruttu) as done on Cigarette Packets the Director General Of Health Services Dr.Palitha Mahipala has stated.
"As Beedi and Cigars too harmful for human health there should be a plan to print health pictorial warnings on these products as well "Dr.Mahipala stressed.
The Ministry Of Health has introduced a health pictorial warnings For Cigarette Packets to print 80% of it's surface.
Cabinet had recently approved a proposal to increase the ses tax imposed on the paper used to wrap Beedi from Rs.2000 to Rs3000 it has been revealed.
