Three Received Minor Injuries As Their Container Truck Met With An Accident At Buttala-Katharagama Road Due To A Begging Elephant
Three persons received minor injuries as their container truck had met with an accident at Buttala-Katharagama Road following a begging elephant blocked the road it has been reported.
As the elephant who was begging for food had blocked the road the container truck driver lost the control of the vehicle and met with the accident.

Eighteen Pilgrims Were Injured And Hospitalized Following Their Bus Collided with Another Bus At Badulla-Passara Road
Around 18 pilgrims were injured and hospitalized this evening following a Bus they were travelling in colliding with a private bus travelling from Passara to Badulla at Jayagama area on Badulla-Passara Road it has been reported.
The injured were admitted to the Badulla Hospital for treatment.
The pilgrims were on their way to katharagama when the accident occurred.

Finance Minister Has Instructed The State Timber Corporation To Pay Rs.2000 Million For The Treasury-Union Has Opposed The Move
The Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake has instructed the State Timber Corporation to pay a sum of Rs.2000 million which payable for the Treasury by the Corporation.
State Timber Corporation Employees Union while opposing the Finance Minister's instructions on paying such a large amount money to the treasury by stating that the Timber Corporation will go bankrupt if such an amount paid to the treasury as the authorities even do not have a sufficient amount of money to solve the long standing problems of it's employees.
The Union has demanded the president Maithripala Sirisena to intervene in the matter.

Navy Have Arrested 23 Local Fishermen While illegally Fishing In Local Seas With Banned Nets
The Sri Lanka Navy Officers have today (03) arrested 23 local fishermen who were engaging in illegal fishing practices by using banned fishing nets in the seas off kokkuthuduwei (Eastern Province)and Serakkuliya Lagoon areas (In north Western province)according to the Navy.
Accordingly 13 local fishermen were arrested in the seas off Kokkuthuduwei sea area while engaging in illegal fishing and 04 dinghies (Boats) and a banned net were also taken into custody by the Navy.The arrested fishermen along with equipment have been handed over to the Kuchchaweli Police for further investigations on the incident.
In another incident the Navy Officers have arrested 10 local fishermen with 05 dinghies and 06 banned nets while fishing in Serakkuliya lagoon area today.The arrested fishermen along with equipment were handed over to the Puttalam Fisheries Inspector for further investigations.
