Three Were Killed Due To A Three Wheeler-Bus Collision On Thissamaharama-Kataragama Road
Three Persons were killed following the three wheeler they were in collided with a private bus on Thissamaharama-Kataragama Road this evening according to the police.
The remains of the deceased had been sent to Kataragama District Hospital for the post mortem. Police have detained the bus driver regarding the accident.
Thissamaharama Police are conducting further investigations on the incident.

National Food Safety Week To Begin Tomorrow(22)
Ministry Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine to launch National Food Safety Week effective from tomorrow(22).
During the week which will last till 29th of August raids will be carried out in eateries throughout the island including restaurants,hotels,bakeries and canteens near bus stops to check the quality and cleanliness of the food served to consumers there.
Ministry of Health is also due to carry out raids with the help of consumer affairs authority
in trade centers during this week to check the implementation of color code system introduced with effect from 01st of August for soft drink bottles to indicate sugar levels containing ,in view of controlling the spreading of non communicable diseases in the country.
Those soft drink manufacturers who do not implement the color code system for their products after 01st of August will be severely punished the ministry has stated

Sri Lankan Air Lines Has Been Suspended The Service Of The Captain Of Delayed Frankfurt-Colombo Flight
Sri Lankan Air Lines has been suspended the service of the captain of delayed Sri Lankan flight UL-554 from Frankfurt to Colombo as he failed to pass the alcohol test (breathalyzer) carried out by the authorities at Frankfurt air port in Germany the air lines has announced today (21).
As per the results of the alcohol test Sri Lankan air lines authorities have taken steps to suspend the service of the above mentioned captain and taken alternative measures to operate the flight to Colombo after a 15 hour long delay the Air lines has announced through a statement.
Passengers of the UL-554 scheduled to fly Colombo from Frankfurt on last Friday have faced difficulties as the flight has been delayed for 15 hours due to the absence of the pilot. The air lines earlier announced that the pilot was not able to reported to work due to an illness.
Due to the flight's delay Sri Lankan Air lines have to compensate the passengers of the flight as per the European Union regulations.

Police Have Detained A person Who Sold Narcotic Pills And Cannabis Through An Unlicensed Pharmacy In Kalpitiya
The Kalpitiya (North Western Province)Police have detained a person who stored narcotic drug pills and cannabis to sell for students and youth inside his unlicensed pharmacy at Kalpitiya Town.
Police have also taken into custody a stock of narcotic drug pills and cannabis during the raid carried out in the pharmacy .The suspect has sold one drug pill mentioned above for Rs.160 it has been revealed.
Police have also recovered around Rs,139,500 at the residence of the suspect.The suspect and the detained stock of pills and cannabis are due to be produced before the Puttalam District Court.

Imported Tax Imposed On Big Anions Has been Increased By Rs.15
The import tax imposed on Big Anions has been increased by Rs.15 with immediate effect according to the Ministry Of Finance.
Accordingly the import tax will be increased from Rs.25 to Rs.40 per one Kilo Gramme of imprted Big Anions.
The tax has been increased to protect local farmers cultivating Big Anions the Ministry has stated.Local Farmers have earlier requested the government to increase the tax imposed on imported Big Anions .
