Mahiyanganaya Police have yesterday (14)detained a 32 year old man who had illegally possessed two elephant tusks at Dambana in Mahiyanganaya Area.
The police have detained the suspect as per the information received on him.Mahiyanganaya Police are conducting further investigations on the incident.
The state minister of child affairs Vijayakala Maheshwaren has stated today(14) that the all closed water wells in the Jaffna Peninsula (Northern Province) should be immediately checked under a court order to find out the bodies of those persons who went missing during previous government.
According to the state minister Maheshwaren the relatives of the missing persons believe the bodies of the missing have been placed inside of these wells and filled with soil.
A 59 year old female was killed and her 26 year old son had been injured and hospitalized due to a Cab they were travelling in crashed into a tree at Bowela ,Mahaoya on Kandy-Ampara road this morning.
The deceased was on the way to hospital with her son to get treatment for her illness when the accident occurred it has been reported.
