A Person Was Detained With A Stock Of Illegally Imported Foreign Liquor Bottles At Ambathale
The officials of the Illegal Narcotics Raid Unit attached to the Ministry Of Finance has detained a person with 168 bottles of illegally imported foreign liquor at Ambathale Area it has been reported.
The value of the detained stock of foreign liquor is around Rs.600,000 the sources have stated.
The person who was detained with the stock of foreign liquor bottles reported as supplying these to restaurants in and around Colombo For a long period
The excise department has launched an investigation on the incident.

Consumer Affairs Authority Had a Taken Into Custody A Stock Of Biscuit Packets Which Marked False Weight
The Consumer Affairs Authority had taken into custody a stock of biscuit packets which marked false weight during a raid carried out at Point Pedro (Northern Province)and got a court order to remove the whole stock of above mentioned biscuit packets from the market according to the authority.
Accordingly the officials of the Consumer Affairs Authority carried out the raid have detained a stock of biscuit packets which falsly marked 100 grammes for 80 gramme weight and 190 grammes for 180 gramme weight.
After producing the detained stock of biscuit packets to the court the biscuit manufacturing company and the district sales agent of it in Point Pedro had been fined Rs.200,000 the consumer affairs authority has stated.
Accordingly the officials of the Consumer Affairs Authority carried out the raid have detained a stock of biscuit packets which falsly marked 100 grammes for 80 gramme weight and 190 grammes for 180 gramme weight.

Thirteen Persons Hospitalized In Bagawanthalawa Due To Food Poisioning
Thirteen Persons including four children at Mora Estate area in Bagawanthalawa have been hospitalized this morning due to food poisoning according to sources.
These persons had fallen ill after consuming food prepared for a wedding held yesterday in the area sources have stated.
The condition of those admitted to the hospital is not serious and the Bagawanthalawa MOH office is conducting further investigations on the incident.

Professor Bibile Commemorative Association Has Charged Health Authorities For Not taking Action To Reduce Drug Prices
"As the health Authorities have failed to reduce the escalating Drug Prices in the local market ,patients have been facing enormous difficulties' the organizer of the Professor Senaka Bible Commemorative Association Dr.Jayantha Bandara has stated.
Although the Health Ministry has stated that the escalating Drug Prices will be reduced through a price control mechanism still the authorities are not able to introduce such a mechanism Dr.Bandara has pointed out.
Due to this situation Multi National Drug Companies are earning profits ranging 200 to 800 percent he had stressed.
The Ministry had also failed to give necessity powers to the Independent Drug Regulatory Authority on purchasing of Drugs Dr.Bandara has stated.
Meanwhile the Ministry Of Health has stated that the Gazette Notification Regarding the reducing of Drug Prices is due to issue on 31 st of August.
