Government To Make Full Body Checkups Compulsory For Every Citizen

As the spreading of non communicable diseases in sri lanka is on the increase government is considering to make full body checkups compulsory for every citizen of the country from next year the Cabinet Spokesman and Minister Of Health,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has stated.

Addressing a Cabinet Briefing held at Government Information Department in Narahenpita today(21) the Minister has stated that the government is considering to abolish the tobacco company by the year 2020 in view of controlling the spreading of non communicable diseases in the society.

Former Chairman Of Laksathosa Has Been Detained And Remanded Until 28th Of July

The former chairman of Lak Sathosa Nalin Fernando has been detained by the Colombo crimes division this morning over the charge of misusing of government vehicles during previous government.

After being produced before the Colombo fort magistrate this evening the former Lak Sathosa chairman was remanded until 28th of July.

He is due to be produced before the Colombo fort magistrate again on 28th of July.

Kandy Police Headquarters Have Detained 19 Persons With Heroin And Cannabis In Their Possession

A team of police officers attached to Kandy Police Headquarters have detained 19 persons including a female with narcotics heroin and cannabis in their possession during a raid carried out.

Out of these arrests 14 detained over charges of possessing heroin and 05 detained over possessing cannabis.

Two of the suspects detained are sons of a senior superintendent of police(SSP) and inspector of police (IP) it has been reported.

The police have already taken steps to filed cases against these suspects.

Atound 274 Kilo Grammes Of Cocaine Stored In A Container Found At Paliyagoda Container Yard

The police narcotics bureau officers have today (21) found around 274 Kilo Grammes of narcotic Cocaine stored in a container at Paliyagoda Container Yard .

The total value of the stock of Cocaine recovered today has not yet been estimated.

The police narcotics bureau officials are conducting further investigations on the incident.
