Six Local Fishermen Have Detained With Equipment While Engaged In Illegal Fishing Practices

The  sri lanka navy  have today (10) detained six local fishermen who were engaged in illegal fishing practices in the northern seas off erukkulampiddi point .

Along with the six fishermen two dinghies (boats) and six  monofilament nets which are banned here were also taken into custody by the navy it has been reported.

Detained fishermen and  their equipment were handed over to the assistant director of fisheries in mannar district for future course of action the navy have announced.

Thirty Four Local And Foreign Tourists Who Visited Sigiriya Rock Were Hospitalized Due To A Wasp Attack

A group of 34 local and foreign tourists who had visited the historical sigiriya rock were injured  and admitted to kimbissa hospital due to a wasp attack it has been reported.

Seven chinese nationals and one italian are among those hospitalized due to wasp attack.Their condition is not serious according to sources.

Sri Lankan Government Has Found Land For All 97 Internally Displaced Families In Vavuniya

The sri lankan government has announced it found land for all 97 landless internally displaced families residing in poonthottam welfare camp in vavuniya district (In northern province).

Accordingly a decision has been taken at a meeting held in recently chaired by president maithripala sirisena to allocate 40 acres of forest  land from puliyankulam in vavuniya district for 31 families..

Already 60 acres of land has been identified for 66 Internally Displaced families in chinnamadam of vavuniya district and houses for them were being constructed the government have stated.Gnanam Foundation a non governmental organization had been taken the responsibility of constructing houses for all 97 internal displaced families it has been reported.

The Increased Vat Tax To Be Reduced By Next Year- Finance Minister

The government has increased the value added tax(Vat) recently to pay off the debt collected by previous government led by former president Mahinda Rajapakshe and for nothing else the  Finance Minister Ravi Kaunanayake has stated today(09).

The increased Vat will be reduced by next year he has further added.

The government has selected Vat tax to increase as it placed fewer burden on the masses the  minister has futher added.
