Deputy Minister Thevarapperuma And Twelve Others Including Nine Mothers Detained Over Children's School Admission Issue Released On Bail

Image result for bailThe Deputy Minister Palitha Thevarapperuma along with twelve others including nine mothers who were detained by Police over unlawful assembly at meegahatanna primary collage to get admission for children to grade one class were released today(07) on bail after being produced them  before the Mathugama Magistrate .

The above mentioned persons recently staged a protest campaign at meegahatanna primary collage premises by demanding ten students should be given admission to the grade one class of the school.

The Deputy Minister Thevarapperuma even attempted to commit suicide over the demand and later he was hospitalized and detained on the incident.

However due to the Minister's protest school authorities had given admission to the ten students of protesting mothers and later nine mothers who participated the protest campaign  were detained by the Police on 05th of July when they accompanied their children to school.

The school authorities even taken steps to expel the ten students who were given admission to the school due to the deputy minister thervarapperuma's influence..

New Committee Has Been Appointed To Replace Police Media Unit

Image result for sri lanka policeA new committee has been  appointed to replace Police Media Unit of the Police Department according to Inspector General Of Police(IGP) Pujitha Jaysundara.

Senior Deputy Inspector Generals Of Police(DIG) Priyantha Jayakody and Ajith Rohana were appointed to head the committee according to IGP.

The IGP  had suspended the functions of Police Media Unit on 02nd of May.

Sixteen Indian Fishermen Were Detained In Sri Lankan Waters Last Night

Sri Lankan Coast Guard officers have detained sixteen Indian Fishermen last night with the assistance of Sri Lanka Navy Officers while they were fishing  in Sri Lankan waters in the sea areas of South Delft Island and North Of Mannar.

Accordingly five of those Indian Fishermen with one fishing trawler were detained while illegally fishing in South Delft Island and eleven fishermen along with two fishing trawlers were detained while fishing in seas of North of Mannar .

The detained fishermen and trawlers were handed over to the Jaffna Fisheries Inspectors and Assistant Fisheries Director in Mannar respectively  for future course of action.

Around 11 Undergraduates Attached To University Of Peradeniya Were Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Clash

Image result for the clash graphicsAround 11 undergraduates attached to University Of Peradeniya were injured and hospitalized short while ago following a clash occurred at University Premises.

The clash occurred between students of the science faculty it has been reported.The injured students were admitted to Peradeniya Hospital for treatment.

Bail Applications Of Former DIG Anura Senanayake And Crimes OIC Sumith Perera Rejected By Additional Magistrate

The Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Pieris has today(07) rejected the bail applications submitted by former Deputy Inspector General Of Police(DIG) Anura Senanayake and former Crimes OIC in Narahenpita Police Sumith Perera who were detained over the death of former Sri Lankan Rugby Player Wasim Thajudeen and ordered to remand them further until 20th of this month.

The suspects were further remanded after being produced before court today.

By refusing to grant bail for the suspects the Colombo Additional Magistrate has requested the attorneys of them to submit a bail  applications to High Court.

Former DIG Senanayake was detained by criminal investigations department(CID) on 23rd of May regarding his direct involvement to the murder of former rugby player thajudeen and former Crimes OIC Sumith Perera was detained for hiding evidences related to the murder.
