Ministry Of Health To Implement A Proposal On Grow Cannabis Locally And Exporting It To Western Countries
A proposal has been received by the Ministry Of Health ,Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine to grow Cannabis (Kansa) locally and export it to western countries for manufacture of drugs according to the Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.
Addressing a launching ceremony of new Ayurveda Products held at Waters edge Hotel in Battaramulla on Tuesday 10) evening Health Minister has stated that his ministry has decided to implement the proposal as there's a growing demand for Cannabis to manufacture drugs.
Cannabis mainly used in Sri Lanka to manufacture traditional Ayuveda Drugs .

Two Persons Were Killed After Colliding With Matara-Colombo Intercity Express Train Near Wellawatte
Two Persons a female and a male were killed after colliding with the Matara-Colombo Intercity Express Train "Sagarika" near Wellawatte(In Colombo) this morning according to the main control room of Sri Lanka Railways.
The deceased were identified as a 25 year old female resident of Maskeliya and 23 year old male resident of Hatton .
The bodies of the deceased were sent to South Colombo(Kalubowila) Hospital and Police have suspected the incident as a suicide .
Wellwatte Police are conducting an investigations on the incident.

Attorney General Has Filed An Indictment Against Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero For Keeping A Baby Elephant Illegally
The Attorney General has filed an indictment against venerable Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero for keeping a two and half year old baby elephant without a valid permit.
The Venerable Uduwe Thero was recently arrested by Criminal Investigations Department (CID)and remanded over keeping a baby elephant illegally in his possession at his temple , Alan Mathiniyaramaya in Colombo and was later released on bail by Colombo Magistrate Court.
However the Thero has denied an allegations leveled against him regarding keeping a baby elephant illegally in his possession and stated that the baby elephant was abandoned at the temple during a pageant held in 2014 and all he has done was maintaining the elephant afterwards.

Disaster Management Center Issued A Warning To The Public In Imbulpe And Balangoda On Natural Disasters
The Disaster Management Center has issued a warning to the public in Imbulpe and Balangoda(In Ratnapura District) Divisional Secretariats on possible Landslides and Cut Slope Failures if the prevailing heavy showers further continue.
The Department has also warned public to be more careful on lightening threats as heavy rains expected in most areas in the island during evenings.
According to the Meteorologists the rainy weather currently prevailing in is expected to grow further due to a low level atmospheric disturbances in the vicinity of Sri Lanka.
