Constitutional Council To Meet On 18th Of April To Select A Suitable Candidate For Next IGP Post
Sri Lanka's current Inspector General Of Police N.K Ilangakoon is due to officially retire from his service with effect from tomorrow(11).
The Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena had nominated the names of three senior Deputy Inspector Generals(DIG) Pujitha Jayasundara,Chandana Wikramaratne and S,M Wikramsinghe to the Constitutional Council for IGP Post according to the sources.
The Constitutional Council is due to select the most suitable candidate among the three proposed names for the IGP Post during it's meeting on 18th of April the sources have stated.
Four Ports Authority Workers Have Begun Fast Unto Death Campaign By Demanding Several Demands Including New Year Bonus
Four Workers including Trade Union Leaders attached to Sri Lanka Ports Authority's Joint Trade Unions Forum have today (10) launched a fast unto death campaign opposite the entrance to the Colombo by demanding several demands including New Year Bonus .
The Trade Unions Forum earlier engaged in a work to rule campaign by demanding solutions for workers demands and as the authorities have failed to provide solutions to the demands the Trade Unions have begun death unto fast campaign according to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority Branch of Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya(National Employees Union).
The Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya has accused the Minister of Ports and Shipping Arjuna Ranathunge and his brother Ports Authority Chairman Dhammika Ranathunge for using underworld thugs to threaten workers engagagin in trade union action.

Sri Lanka Navy Have Arrested Four Local Fishermen In The Seas Off Southern Iranathivu
Sri Lanka Navy Personal have arrested four local fishermen yesterday(09) in the seas off Southern Iranthivu(In Northern Province) while engaged in illegal fishing by using banned fishing nets.
The Navy Personal have also taken into custody five banned fishing nets in the possession of detained fishermen.
The arrested fishermen and fishing nets were handed over to the Assistant Director Of Fisheries in Kilinochchi for future course of action according to Navy.

A Mother And Her Child Were Killed Due To A Motor Bicycle-Train Collision Occurred At Galduwa
The Motor Bicycle which carrying the Mother and Child has collided with the Colombo Bound Express Train travelling from Matara when the Motor Bicycle attempting to cross the Railway Crossing it has been reported.
