First Meeting Of The Constitutional Assembly Has Began At Parliament Today(05)

The first meeting of the Constitutional Assembly has began  today(05) at Parliament for the  purpose of formulating  a new constitution for  Sri Lanka.

Accordingly Parliament has converted to a Constitutional Assembly for the first time and all Parliamentary Members became members of the Constitutional Assembly.

A resolution for the appointment of  Constitutional Assembly was passed in Parliament few hours ago.

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe has been appointed as the chairman of Operations Committee of the Constitutional Assembly during the meeting of the Assembly.

The assembly is due to decide the sub committees that will work on constitutional making process and will elect members for those committees it has been reported.

President Instructed Defense Ministry To Recruit Retired Tri Forces Officers To Public Institutions When Need Arises

President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed the Defense Ministry Officials to recruit the retired tri forces officers to Public Institutions on contract basis when the need arises .President has also advised the Ministry Officials to maintain a database of retired tri forces officers in view of recruiting them to the public institutions in future.

The Cabinet too welcomed this decision as a solution to the  lack of  technically and professionally skilled persons in the government .

A Seven Year Old Child has Been Killed And Two Others Injured Due To A Motor Car-Motor Bike Collision

A seven year old child has been killed and two others were injured due to a Motor Car-Motor Bike collision occurred at Kuliyapitiya -Hettipola Road yesterday(04).

The seven year old child has died upon admission to the Hettipola Hospital .

The driver of the Motor Car was arrested regarding the accident and Hettipola Police are conducting investigations on the accident .
