Bribery Commission Has Filed A Case At Courts Against Former Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman And Two Others

The Bribery Commission has yesterday(01) filed a case at Colombo Magistrate Court against the former Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Dr.Priyath Bandu Wikrama and two others regarding allegedly employing 319 Ports Authority Employees for election work during last years's Presidential Election. 

According to the Bribery Commission the former Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman and two others are responsible for employing the 319 Ports Authority workers for election work during the period October 2014 to January 2015 which caused a loss of Rs.65 million to Sri Lanka Ports Authority.

As a response to the Bribery Commission's request the Colombo Additional Magistrate has issued notices to former Ports Authority Chairman and two others to appear before the court.

Imprisoned Former Eastern Provincial Chief Minister Pillayan Has Been Further Remanded

The former Chief Minister of the Eastern Province Sivannasathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan who is in remand over the killing of former TNA(Tamil National Alliance) Parliamentarian Joseph Pararajasingham has been further remanded until 28th of April by the Batticloe Magistrate Court yesterday(01).

The former Eastern Province Chief Minister was produced before the Batticloe Magistrate Court yesterday(01).

Pillayan was charged over the killing of  former TNA MP Joseph Pararajasingham who was shot dead on 2005.

Sri Lanka To Seek Foreign Assistance To Restructure Loss Making Sri Lankan Air Lines -Minister Of International Trade

Sri Lankan Government is seeking foreign assistance to rescue the loss making  national Air Line Carrier "Sri Lankan Air Lines" which experiencing  nearly US Dollars 1 billion in debt according to Minister Of International Trade Sujeewa Senasinghe.

The country cannot bear the Rs.128 billion (US Dollars 872 million)debt being  experienced  by Sri Lankan Air Lines at present the Minister has stated.

Sri Lankan Government is expecting to restructure Sri Lankan Air Lines with either through a management agreement with a Foreign Air Line or through direct foreign capital he has stressed.

Meanwhile according to official reports Sri Lankan Government was held talks with a Middle Eastern Carrier to form an agreement in view of handing over the management of Sri Lankan Air Lines to a Foreign Carrier.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister To Visit China Next Week

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wikramsinghe is due to leave China for a three day state visit from 06th to 09th of April.

During his visit Prime Minister Wikramasinghe is due to hold talks with Chinese Leaders on bi lateral relations and issues according to reports.

Sri Lanka and China are expected strengthen their long standing traditional relationship during the Sri Lankan Prime Minister's state visit to China the Chinese Government has announced.
