A No Confidence Motion Against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake Was Handed Over To The Parliamentary Speaker

A No Confidence Motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake signed by 37 Joint Opposition MP's has been handed over to the Parliamentary Speaker Karu Jayasuriya this evening.

The No Confidence Motion was submitted against Finance Minister Karunanayake by accusing him of providing false information to the Parliament including annual  budget proposals 2016.

 Joint Opposition Group has handed over a no confidence motion against Finance Minister for the second time.

Cecille Kotalawale Was Released On Bail By Court Of Appeal

Cecille Kotalawale the wife of former Sri Lankan Business Tycoon Lalith Kotahalwale who was arrested and remanded over misappropriation of Rs.26 Billion Public Investments of failed Golden Key Company was today(24) released on bail by the Court Of Appeal.

Cecille Kotalawale was released on two personal bails of Rs.1 Million each and on a cash bail of Rs.100,000 by the Court Of Appeal.

The Court has taken Cecille Kotalawale's Passport under it's custody and informed her that she need to obtain Court's Permission to go abroad.

The accused was arrested by Immigration and Emmigration Officials at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Air Port on 05th of February upon returning  to the country after evading courts few years.

Three Indian Fishermen Were Arrested While Fishing In Sri Lankan Seas Of North Western Delft Island

Sri Lanka Coastal Guard Officers assisted by Sri Lanka Navy Personal have arrested two Indian Fishermen along with a Fishing Trawler they were in while illegally fishing in Sri Lankan Seas of North Western Delft Island yesterday(23).

The Arrested Indian Fishermen and the trawler are due to be handed over to the Department Of Fisheries And Aquatic Resources in Kankasanthurai(In Northern Province) for a future course of action  according to Sri Lanka Navy.

Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Dhammika Ranathunge Was Released On Bail Over Case Filed Against Him

The Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority Dhammika Ranathunge has been granted bail by Colombo Magistrate Court today(24) over a case filed against him on threatening Electronic Media Journalists.

The Colombo Chief Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya has released the Ports Authority Chairman on two personal bails of Rs.100,000 each and severely warned him on his behavior.

A Case was filed against Dhammika Ranathunge who is the elder brother of Minister Arjuna Ranathunge after several Electronic Media Journalists have made a complaint to Keselwatta Police on 16th of March that Ports Authority Chairman had threatened them by using abusive language at Colombo High Court Premises.

Sri Lanka To Eradicate Mother To Child Transmission Of HIV/AIDS Virus By Next Year

The National Sexually Transmitted Diseases/AIDS Control Programme has requested the World Health Organization to declare Sri Lanka as a country that eradicated Mother to Child Transmission of HIV/AIDS Virus by next year(2017) as the country has already achieved that target successfully according to Dr.G.Weerasinghe attached to the programme.

There are no cases reported from the country during first quarter of this year on Mother to Child transmission of HIV/AIDS Virus Dr.Weerasinghe has stated.

The AIDS Control Programme is planning to check every pregnant mother for HIV/AIDS from this year he has stressed.

By the end of last year 41 children who got infected with HIV/AIDS Virus through their mothers have been received treatment from the AIDS Control Programme and out of this number 23 are boys and 18 are girls Dr.Weerasinghe has revealed at the Media Seminar held yesterday(23) at Health Education Bureau in Colombo on "HIV/AIDS and Myths".
